Hi Jon, hopefully the photo will help.  Cant help with the hose length because I had custom sizes made when I converted to twin disc.

Cheers, Jimbo

+1 for the Morgan carbtune pro.  Used mine loads and balanced a lot of my mates bikes too.

I certainly cant see why you would have to adjust in any order....the important thing is to have the same readings for the four pots.  Do you have a un-adjustable slide (carb number 2 on the later 750's) as a guide?

Got a kit for mine on Ebay for 20 quid!   Check it out there are always bargains!

If not, Ive used the x-rings on other bikes with good success, but my daily commute is a R1100GT  (thats an R1100GS with RT wheels, motor, gearbox and final drive) so no chain....happy days!

(apologies for mentioning a bavarian tractor on this forum!)

Yup....had to do a couple in mine too.  Then the camchain adjuster bolt threaded too.  I bought a cheap kit although ive lost the special drill bit somewhere along the line :-(  For a 5mm tap is the drill bit something like 4.8mm?

Its all a bit of a nightmare isnt it!  You can see why people the world over recommend running standard ignition components, but equally its easy to understand why people are tempted by promises of (relatively) maintenance free ignition systems.

Sounds to me like you've done your homework and in theory everything should be fine, but I guess this is all part and parcel of running an old four.  Blood, sweat and tears!  Oh and of course lots of money!

Some interesting information here about coils.  Might be useful when/if you get your coils back from Dyna.

Hondaman is internationally recognised as an expert, he certainly makes sense to me.

The plot thickens!  Roy - I was always under the impression that if you run an electronic ignition and a decent regulator, so youve got a good charge, running a 3ohm coil pack was the way to go.  Points system best to run 5 ohm coil.

I'm quite happy to be corrected however ;D  Loads of threads kicking around about people having panic attacks regarding which coils to use though so its a common issue.

P.S I reckon the DSS coils will be fine.

NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO........don't buy those they are absolute rubbish.  I bought a pair and had real bad problems which made me think the cabs were out.  Turned out to be a crap spark.  I had a set of coils kicking around the shed off a ZZR Kawasaki.  Stuck those on and the bike fired up like a trooper and has been spot on ever since. They were TEC KP02's which are 3.8ohms if I remember correctly.

No need to apologise Roy ;D  I guess I bought the K7 because it reminded me of what it was like to be 19 for a while and I also made the mistake of feeling sorry for a bike that had been neglected for years.  Couple of years later the only original parts left are the frame and swinging arm!  In the grand scheme of things its never going to be in a museum, but its worth the couple of grand just to have all the comments along the lines of....'oh thats an old one' and 'I had one of those in the eighties' etc etc

I'm not a big fan of buying cheap Chinese sh!te but for £1.71 its worth a pop?

I wouldn't get too excited when the postman shows up for at least a couple of weeks though.  Mail from China can take months because of customs.

Never thought i'd see model snobbery on this forum  :(  I really like my K7 but I suppose its not standard.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose

CB750 / Re: Wheels mis-aligned!
« on: June 12, 2016, 05:59:32 PM »
Think its time to arm myself with a couple of nice straight edges as mentioned for alignment purposes.  Ive always used the marks which would explain a lot as when you wheeled the bike backwards the chain used to snag ever so slightly on the rear sprocket.  I didnt think there was too much wrong as the bike handles reasonably well, although the front end has a rather alarming knack of reminding you its a 40 year old bike if you get too friendly with the throttle.

Anyway, thanks all....you learn something new every day!  Now all ive got to do is get my kit dry for the early morning commute!  Yesterday the rain was running off my jeans and straight down my boots.....nice.

Bike didnt miss a beat though which isnt bad as the roads were more like rivers on the way home from the mot station.  My K7 back in the late 80's used to stop if you squirted a water pistol at it.....ah the innocence of youth!
