"Re: Pricey 400F on eBay ... too lazy to do a proper description so used AI"

If that's the best description AI can provide, we have nothing to fear!  ::)

In any case, the seller is offering a good price for a 400F...  if it's still in the original unopened factory crate!  :)

Ok, so new switch, filter and oil and all good now 😀
So far from what I have seen, it's always the switch.
Now to tackle the damn high idle condition!

What model? K3?

As Bryan has said the parts book is very good at identifying where things like O rings or oil restrictors fit.

As you probably know the block base gasket fits on the crankcase, the larger four block seal rings fit in the groove on the underside of the block. You will need to use red rubber grease on them so they stay in place when you fit the block over the pistons. You also have the fiddly part of fitting the cam chain tensioner blades. You might find it helpful to read that section in my 500 project thread (Page 35) or another members thread.

Using the search facility on this site will also list posts where a subject has arisen before so you can be read a variety of solutions & outcomes.

Member 4 Sales / For Sale, Generator covers, 1 x 550, 1 x 500 £12 each
« Last post by Tony.B on June 01, 2024, 10:10:06 PM »
Hi all, as no-one wanted to buy my job lot off me, I will have to advertise each item one by one, so here are the first two. I have a pair of generator covers, and as I understand it, the one with the screw-on logo is for the 500, and the one with the logo as part of the cover is for a 550. The 500 one is in better nick, but both are good, just need a really good clean and buff. All threads look good. UK postage and packing for each cover will be £3.99.

The lower bearing etc tapped off quite easily using a blunt punch and a nylon hammer. All the valves have been lapped and replaced with new valve stem seals. The frame and swinging arm should be back from the paint shop end of next week. I’m not sure what task will be next; probably rebuilding the front end once I have the frame back with intermittent tinkering on the engine.

I have been studying the manual I have (Haynes) to ensure when it comes to putting the barrels and head back on that I am familiar as possible with the approach but I’m finding it difficult to be sure that I know what O rings go where. Some of the instructions in the manual are vague. I have had a look in Aladdin’s Cave for something more definitive like an exploded diagram or something but so far have not been able to find anything. Can anyone point me in the direction of any material or instructions that would help with this?

Thanks

Here the answer from Germany.
Osram und Philips bieten zugelassene LED H7 aber auch H4 an. Du darfts sie aber nur nachrüsten wenn sie für das Fahrzeug auch geprüft und zugelassen sind.
Für die Hondas wird das wohl nicht der Fall sein.

So, you can only fit them, if they've been tested and admitted for your specific vehicle. That's also what the article said.

I'm in the middle of doing a 500 tank and panels at the moment. Mostly aerosol cans but using a very old paint sprayer for the base. It was going to be candy garnet brown, but now it's just candy brown.

https://perfectpearlsandpigments.co.uk/products/candy-copper-brown/

I have the Spraymax lacquer, hope it protects the paint, but it needs extra precautions when using.  Hopefully results in a few weeks if the weather warms up.
Should have a set of the stripes decals left over as there was a c--k up. Said to Piki will donate any money for them to the forum.

That's dreadful Dave now't worse that Hit & Run drivers - they don't seem to bother even if they hit a pedestrian.
Just a lack of integrity and values that seems so prevalent today.

The apparent  lack of everyday Roads Polcing is the start of something they will live to regret.
As a probationer you learnt to engage with the local population through stopping motor vehicles and talking to young drivers well meeting local criminals in the process.
My first arrest for a garage burglary was when I stopped a local lad in Clowne near chesterfield for driving through a short pedestrian tunnel.

I noticed that the wheels on his old Austin 1100 looked almost brand new, I was aware of a theft of wheels from a private garage. Duly arrested, invertigated, home searched and charged with Burglary - as my old Sergeant used to say most Burglars don't walk to a commit crime.
