Title: What a difference a ...mudguard makes!?
Post by: MarkCR750 on June 20, 2016, 06:36:21 PM
Finally got around to fitting my rechromed front mudguard, and a very good rear from the states, it's really tidied up the appearance I think, looking fwd to 2 stroke Sunday at CMC at the weekend now😄

Thanks for the kind comments , I'll probably sell it soon though, it's great fun to ride but is getting neglected now I've got the CR on the road, on the other hand I might keep it and just build antother shed , (garage already full!) hard to part with bikes I always find 😳

Reminds me a lot of an old mates Suzuki 250. His was a bronze colour and I think it was called a Super Six? exhausts were chrome and lower like other road bikes, went like stink I know that.

Yes I've got the chrome low exhausts as well it's a UK bike, I fitted the high pipes, I think they were only fitted to the American models (Scrambler II) back in the day, I could be wrong though, maybe you could get them here too, it is quick, 6 speed box helps and it's very light , 33bhp, with me at 6'2" and 16 stone I've seen over 90 on the clock on the flat, not sure what it was really doing minus speedo error but definitely over 80, with an 8 stone teenager in the 70's I'm sure it would easily do over 90 😄, very nippy little bike!.

I just found this old advert, it says 105mph, definitely optimistic, especially as years later when the introduced the X7 they said it was the worlds first 100mph 250

Sold for 2290 which gave me a slight (very slight) profit, but more importantly I enjoyed a years ownership and the buyer is a real enthusiast, viewing this zx7r tomorrow, a bike that's always been on my bucket list so happy days 👍

I loved my Zxr400 Green1, painted it in team France colours, 14500 rpm redline it howled!, it was physically to small for me (I'm 6'2") but was so cheap (£900) I couldn't resist it, my advice is get one, at less than £1500 for a good one it would be rude not to 👍

Thanks Trigger, I'm test riding it tonight so I'll give the gearbox special attention , (and the throttle 😄)

Also look for hairline cracks on the discs, back and front, STD MOT failure, with most people replacing with Chinese ones.

Cheers, this ones had new discs front and rear, probably for the reason you gave above, it's a year 2000 with 25k miles he wants 1400 but it will have to be very good for me to give that, they are 10 a penny at present, if I'm honest it's the looks that have always made me want one, there are better bikes around such as the blade, but I've had one of them and the zx7r is an itch that needs to be scratched 😄

Ok so I'm not going to view that one after all, I just text him and said I want to hear it start from cold and all of a sudden the fan isn't kicking in and it's got a stutter til it's warm, won't bother 😄

I would but the Guzzi had to spend the night out side after collecting the 550.I may be able to find the room if I tidy up a bit or convince my dad that a classic Honda would really set the new decor of in the lounge.  ;D

I'm surprised there was anything more than a pile of rust and a corroded alloy lump left of the guzzi by morning!

HA ha we will find out when I come to service it.
If I only sheer a couple of bolts we will know the rain hasn't affected it.  ;D
