Can you see him yet?
-
Nice mascot! Reminds me a bit of the tigers tails used to get from Esso petrol stations.
-
Zoom in on the squirrels eyes, looks like something out of The Exorcist.
-
We had a increasing sized family living in our garage which had to be removed.
They made quite a home in there, very effective and clean it seems. A proper squirrel-opolis with lounge areas and everything.
BUT they wreak absolute havoc on most other things, peculiarly anything with oil or fuel in it! They appear to love gear oil and brake fluid containers and any plastics of red orange colour.
Went to start my vintage Japanese hedge cutter, opened the fuel tank to have a look inside, could see something moving, realized it was my boots. They'd eaten all of the underside of the fuel tank, gone in it's entirety, just top half left.
That one looks like he's sizing up you front brake system, keep an eye on him ;D
-
Didn’t realise they were that destructive!

I doubt it, probably guarding it for me! I'm the local squirrel hero you know, I feed them, they are allowed in my house and I've hand reared three infants!

Interesting, they are cheeky things.
I thought that they have to keep gnawing to maintain front teeth health and deal with too much growth, unsure if that's accurate. They also stripped the vinyl covering from electrical ring main wiring too. Those semi hard plastics seem irresistible to them.
We get a whole raft of small birds now living in the hedgerows since the squirrels moved out. They apparently take nesting birds eggs and so depleat mixed bird populations.

Anti-squirrel lobby propaganda... that is a rare thing. I couldn't even get mine to eat quails eggs! They love a bit of cheese though............. Rats with tails. Don't ever get them living in your loft as we did. They only came in at night to sleep but the damage they caused cost a lot of money to rectify. They gnawed through three 4x2 roof joists reducing them to matchsticks! After a couple of weeks we called a pest company who set traps. We didn't catch any but if they did regulations require they are to be killed as not allowed to be set free once caught, very strange!
Squirrels are very sociable animals, they actually huddle together at night to keep warm but come dawn and they will fight each other to death as they are very territorial.
Why people think they are cute and cuddly is beyond me, they steal nesting birds eggs and are classed as vermin. Grey squirrels have decimated our own red squirrel population. Another great idea to introduce a species that kills our own just like crayfish and Japanese knotweed introduced by Kew Gardens as an easy to care for flowering plant aimed at people who didn't like gardening!
-
Rats with tails.
I never did see a rat without a tail! The Red Squirrel thing is blown far and away out of proportion, WE are the reason reds are declining. Sorry about your roof mate, why didn't you send them a bill? You do get naughty ones!
-
One of the very few creatures I prefer to see through a telescopic sight. Total vermin and nasty little bastards.

Still rather vulnerable to be hit to the covers with a sturdy Slazenger V12. Satisfying and a lot quieter! 8)

Grey tree rats, in the same class as wood pigeons-vermin.

These cutesy wootsy US imports carry a virus to which they are immune but which has decimated the native red squirrel. They also cause a great deal of carnage among nesting birds by eating their eggs and young, plus as had been said, you wouldn't want them in your loft chomping their way through electrical circuits. Hard to really see an up side to them being introduced into the UK, so maybe the answer is to create a market amongst the trendy Hoxston Hipsters lot for free range squirrel burgers? If only they could get Nigella Lawson to front it!:P

My Springer has caught a squirrel or two in his time.

I prefer them to the mice in my garage. Hopefully they are not filling my airboxes now (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201029/634f9b3a008cf109bc4afa5b06aa5229.jpg)

While I was working on the engine I had the exhaust stored under the work bench. Two bolts vanished and could not be found. When it came to fitting the exhaust I found the two bolts and a heap of peanuts stolen from the bird food bin and stored in the exhaust. 10 min of vigorous shaking removed all foreign objects!
-
So they like nuts and bolts!

Oh dear, he's given a squirrel a name. Inevitable I suppose that lock down has started to have some effects. :'(

Squirrel lookout duties....

Recently watched a very depressing, “A life on our Planet”, by David Attenborough.
Difficult to level accusations of wanton destruction at squirrels 🐿 (!)
Anyways, if not seen it, worth a look - tho’ perhaps not with the grand kids 🙁
-
We watched that last weekend.
Made me think about being a veggie

You need too call the next one Vince ;D ..Ziggy Stardust=Vince Taylor
Went to see him at Bridlington Spa 1973 .. B*st*rd doorman/bouncer confiscated my spark plug spanner .. said it was a weapon ..was actually used all the time on my 175 sloper, that I went to concert on, 'cos it kept oiling up the LH plug. A week later Ziggy was dead.
-
The doorman killed Ziggy Stardust with your sparkplug spanner?!
