Title: Suzuki GT750
Post by: Sgt.Pinback on May 06, 2016, 09:06:45 PM
Been offered a 1978 GT750 B,
Two owners, only 30 tsd.  Km.
Very original and clean bike, genuine  black paint.

But: both upper exhaust pipes are badly scratched at the outside ends and the seat cover is toast.

Seller is asking € 4.500

I have no idea with these bikes.

Are there single pipes to buy and if so what does that cost?
Same with seat: are correct covers or seats available?

What do you think about the price given everything else is OK?

Thanks for any input, realy like that bike.

Pipes are impossible to find Uli - not sure if anyone is reproducing them. So you need to budget €6-700 to refurbish them at least.  Also need to make sure the crank seals haven't perished / failed. A common fault. Cool bikes though.

Heared  about that but how can I check those seals?

Bike is idling smooth at 1.000rpm.
No grease found at the water filler cap.

There's a really good UK forum called the Kettleclinic. Worth having a good read-up on there Uli...

I was looking at one a while back and was advised to take it out for a hard run then look for oil around the breather hole on top of the gearbox.

If the crank seals have worn or dried out it pressurises the gearbox and blows out some oil apparently.

Delkevik do a set to original spec. Pricey but similar to what you would have to pay for a Honda or Kawasaki complete set.

It may be possible to buy individual pipes, contact them to find out.

New original seats are available from Suzuki, but they are around the £350 mark.

Couple of photos of my 'A'

Thanks for input!

Passed that GT. That exhaust was the k.o. criteria. That would end up by € 6.500 ++
Don´t need another project at the moment.
