While changing a throttle cable I noticed the horn is mounted on the near side as opposed to the correct. Simples eh just swap it over... nope it fouls on the number 3 ht lead and no matter what it will not fit. So returned to original/wrong position. It still works but it means that the loom support that should be there isn't but hasn't been for some time so no matter. Question is the horn is about 100mm in diameter is it the right size horn or a replacement which is bigger hence why it's mounted the other side. Over to you!

It measures 9.5cm inc the cover. It's mounted on the off side and it is a bit tight in there!!

Thanks Julie,I can see some grazed knuckles coming up, but you're pic confirms I've a standard horn so thanks for that. My sausage fingers are going to get bashing I can see :(

It's a lot easier to get in place if you take the tank off, as you can work from the top.

Sort of related, while reassembling the right hand switch cover assembly around the throttle cable housing - which went okay - I've had trouble getting the 2 halves to join together fully, either the front closes but not the rear or vice versa, I've left it with a small gap at the front, or is there a knack I'm not seeing?

They never fit together perfectly on both the front and the back at the same time. If they did, the switch gear assembly would rattle and move around. Every clamp has a gap, otherwise it wouldn't clamp, if you get my drift ::)

And because of that, it's safest to have the gap at the back. If you have it at the front dust, grit and rain can get in there while you're riding, causing electrical gremlins in the future.

Thanks , thought I was going mad(der). Gap at the front it is (facing out) and closed at switch face makes sense. Only lost 3 hours on this ! :-\ Every day is a school day!

No, Hairy meant front of the bike, so back of the switch, gap closed. As your sitting on the bike you should see the open gap. This stops the weather etc getting in as you are riding forward.

Got our fronts muddled ! Get what you mean now but to me the front faces me when I'm sitting on it 😜

I think the "FRONT " faces the direction of travel.
so away from the rider
it prevents dirt and grit being forced in as you ride
