Title: Checking float levels CB350F
Post by: royhall on May 24, 2018, 06:14:47 PM
I am going to check my float levels with the clear tube method but can't find anywhere what height from below the flange they are meant to be. Anyone know? Cheers.

I have no figures for this, but with all the Kawasakis i have owned it's been between  3 and 4 millimetres, i had to set mine up to this on my 350 f as i found the floats would just touch the roof of the chamber and let by, my bike runs perfectly with this setting.

Thanks kev that's a big help. Knowing yours runs well at that setting gives confidence. I will check what mine are set at over the weekend. Cheers.

I tried setting the float bowls using the height method a few times with no luck.
I have a Z650 and this is the method for setting the float height on them so I used it on my 400/4.
I had mine out for a run and checked the plugs for a good colour and used the height from that one.
From the top of the float bowl (not the bottom of the carb) mine are level with the bottom of the screw, might give you a rough starting point.
Suppose this is the issue with pattern parts if the little springs are all different tensions it’s never going to be correct just using the float height.

Thanks guys. Just to check where I will be measuring from (can at least try to get this right). Kev's is 3 to 4mm below the gasket joint, and Paul's is about level with the bottom of the screws. So I really need to aim for somewhere on the angled part of the bowl in the picture.

I was measuring from the joint of the carb body and bowl.
The fuel level in the clear pipe was level with the bottom of the screw.
Have you checked the plugs to see if one of them is correct then use this as the level in the tube.
Just to add mine have a small shakeproof washer on the screws.
