Post by: Reid on February 01, 2013, 05:28:49 PM
New member here, getting my gas tank painted and found the following serial number on the tank hold down tab A46519.  Anyone have any idea what this number is for.  My vin # is 1094087, 1971 cb750, Canadian model.

Hi and welcome to the forum, it isn't a serial number but could be a former owners zip code? cheers Mick.

Thanks Mick, we don't have zip codes in Canada, we have postal codes, mine is L0E 1T0, so this is not it.  Anyway, got this 71 from a rear yard at an auto body shop and only wanted the rabbit ears and head light for my wife 81 cb650c.  So I paid 75.00 dollars for it 4 years ago.  The motor was seized and I completely took it right down to the frame and redid the motor.  This past summer I installed an 836 kit and I am very happy with it.  I also have a 1984 GPZ550 that I picked up for nothing and rebuilt it with a 615 Wiscoe piston kit, K & N filters, and dyno jet carb kit, ( this is my fun bike and very fast).  The 750 is my cruiser for bike night around here (Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada) and everyone is happy to see such an old bike here. Anyway thanks for the reply, mybe it was Honda's serial number for tank (don't know, just interested).

You could try asking the guys on www.sohc4.net Reid. Loads of Canadians on there.

I'm always over there inviting Brits and Europeans to join us so it's only fair that I point you over there (assuming that you haven't already tried and decided to as the Brits!
