Took the little Honda out for a run today, odd little thing....quite different to what i`m used too. Front brake is excitingly inadequate, the rear brake doesn`t much  :o

The Beamish Trial will be an interesting 120miles  :-\

Tricks & Tips / CB175 Oil filter (cap removal)....
« on: December 29, 2013, 02:14:21 PM »
With reference to item number 9 in this illustration...

http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb175-super-sport-175-k6-england_model16498/partslist/E09.html#results

When you have removed the M6 screw from the center, and you are struggling to (as the manual states, pull out the cap....where the M6 screw is removed from there is an M8 thread allowing you to GENTLY screw in an M8 bolt which will act as a puller and release the cap,

Misc / Open / Insuring your classic AND modern on the same policy?
« on: December 20, 2013, 10:15:20 PM »
Any suggestions where to insure my classic AND modern on the same policy, the company i`m with won`t insure the CB175  ???

Are club discounts, VJMC/Honda OC, worth paying the joining fee to obtain insurance discount?

All the best of the season btw  ;)

Mike.

is not fixed vertically, or as close to vertical as is reasonably practical.

Cheers, a useful link there.

How about this, it`s as vertical as is reasonably practicable....due to the mounting bracket and wheel clearance....apparently  :o

If I was still testing the number plate would fail as its nearly horizontal so not easy to read

Where does it state the number plate angle please?

Out of interest, and devoid of any personal thoughts, preference or opinions, on what grounds could you have failed it?

Ready for it`s mot....

Don`t want a showroom example as i`m going to ride it, hopefully, 23000miles from new, 2 owners and stands me at £150 plus LOADS of hours. Mudguards are made from what was left of the originals.

Other Bikes / Re: CB175, Electronic Ignition???
« on: November 16, 2013, 05:52:59 PM »
You can use a Sparkrite TT electronic ignition on the CB175, it retains the points, but using a much lower voltage across them, resulting in much longer life for the points and less frequent adjustment. Found just what you need on e-bay, item number  151154496435   he's got 2 of them, apparently new and unused, probably worth a punt if you want to go down that route ;D

Cheers....

Got both of them for £10.50  ;D Fitted one today and there is a vast improvement.

Should I do away with the condensor all together?
