I tried putting my superdream 400 mirrors on, they were a bit better, but I have broad shoulders and they were still a bit naff. I put bar end mirrors on until I find something better, they look crap, but work.

Zoff does the same thing Hairy and as you say, it really works well. I have used Zoff to remove stickers on bikes and it has never damaged the paintwork, in fact, most of the stickers come of so intact, you can use them again if needed.

Good info Julie, will get some for my superdream stripdown over the winter.

Nice looking machine. Was the gear shift pattern standard or had the previous owner put the linkage on upside down? I can hardly believe that a std honda prod bike would have a reversed pattern..

Ahem...I put the linkage on upside down when I put the bike back together after a frame strip and paint, no point blaming anyone else for my cock up... :)

After a total strip down and rebuild. It went ok, after I converted the gear change from 1 up and four down to the far more usual 1 down and four up...... :)

Slight weep on one of the forks, but otherwise, she went well.

Not Honda specific, but could be handy for those that don`t know.

I had to clean the carbs on my VF1000 and it is a right PITA of a job, so did some surfing on the Magna sites in the USA and came across this little gem. The carb mounting rubbers go brittle after time and tend to split, mine were knackered anyway so I had bought new ones, BUT, I read that if you mix evergreen oil and rubbing alcohol 1 to 3, leave your rubber bits in the solution for three days, then the rubber softens back to like new. I thought...hmmmmm...I smell BS, but bought some of each for the grand sum of £18 off ebay. This works, i mean really works. I had the same pressure on bothe old mounts, one as it came off the engine, the other left in the solution for three days, difference is chalk and cheese.

It may help save somebody some money.

It wouldn't matter if 1 was on the right,  as 1 and 4 go up and down together and spark together.   Just saying  ;)
I confused myself recently whilst setting the tappets, easily done in fairness... :) I was just interested.

Out of interest and to satisfy my curiosity, if you are sat on the bike, which is number one cylinder, left outer or right outer?

CB350/400 / Re: CB400 - Front Brake Bleeding.
« on: March 03, 2018, 10:18:30 AM »
I always back bleed them, especially on the Honda V4 cluches that are a real PITA. Plus, as mentioned before, cracking the banjo bolt on the master cylinder can help a lot.

I use a large syringe with a pipe securely fastened around it and the caliper bleed nipple and gently push the  fluid up into the m/c.

Cheap enough on the bay of eezz.

Try getting an aerosol of proper contact cleaner and go through the fuse box and ignition switch. Bit of scotchbrite will help as well.

I fed a price of petrol onto the spring to stop it rubbing the frame. But anal I know, but every little helps.

Mine is the same as both the last pic in your post and the photo that Peter has posted.
