Other Bikes / CB250G5 Engine rebuild, high pitched noise
« on: November 18, 2017, 03:42:40 PM »

I have finally managed to start the bike with both cylinder firing.

I now have a new problem, there is a high pitched "squeal" !

I presume it is the camshaft rotating in the head, as the G5s do not have a bearing to spin on.

Is there a way to check if the camshaft is getting enough oil without stripping it all down again?

Or should i let it turn over for a while to make sure the oil pressure is forcing oil up to the camshaft?

Other Bikes / CB250G5 Ignition

Hi all,

I have no spark at the points on the left cylinder. I have tested the coils and get the correct ohm reading, also tried a second set of coils and get the correct ohm reading.

If i swap the wires of  the coils from the left to the right i get a spark from the left spark plug but the left hand points still do not spark. Which makes me think the coils are okay.

The point are brand new and i have gapped and regapped them about 4 times.

I also have checked all the wiring for breaks and all are good.

I did get a spark from the left points while i was gapping them but from the location where the wire is screwed onto the points, but as soon as i gapped them correctly it went away.

Any thoughts as i am at a loss.

Other Bikes / CB250G5 1st Gear
« on: July 11, 2017, 08:13:39 PM »
Hi all,

Hope someone can help me!

I have just finished rebuilding the engine, following the Haynes manual.

I am not able to get it into 1st or into neutral.

When i tried to put it into 1st with the engine running, it died and then never went back into neutral.

I have removed the clutch, to check the drum selector, which looks in the right place

A couple of questions:

Does the gearbox mainshaft always spin with the back wheel when not in gear?

Why would it not go into 1st, it goes into all the other gears, 2nd to 6th and back again.

Cheers.

Other Bikes / CB250G5 / 360G5 seat lock bracket measurements
« on: June 15, 2016, 07:34:18 AM »
Hi all,

Does anyone own a CB250G5 or CB360G5?

Was given a 250 in boxes and have been slowly putting it back together.

I have just realised that my newly painted frame is missing the seat lock bracket, would it be possible for someone to give me some measurements of the bracket so i can get a new fabricated.

Cheers.
