CB500/550 / Re: CB500 Four - engine cuts off in idle

In my experience, the Japanese Keyster kits have worked for me when I have not been able to use original brassware - which I prefer to use. Had to use Keyster float valves on a few rebuilds and they have been fine. It's the cheap Chinese kits that are rubbish

Although I can get it to idle at 500, it's set at 1000

I can get my 500 tickover down to 500 rpm - assuming the rev counter is accurate!

Desperately Seeking!! / Re: CB360 Grip Side 50316-369-000

I saw my mate from York at Stafford yesterday (anyone else on here go?)

I went yesterday too Ash. Pity we couldn't meet up! Really enjoyed it but wasn't looking for anything particularly. My first time at the show. Had a great chat with a CR750 expert from chester (Paul McGhie) - that I bought a CR750 replica petrol tap off a few years back without ever meeting him and randomly started talking to him - small world!
Also speaking to a guy on the CB1100R that I went on an 1100R owners club run out when the club first started. It is indeed a small world!

Difficult as I use my 500K2 and 750K2 on a rotational basis. Enjoy both equally. I'll go for the 750 as the extra power fits in with modern traffic without the extra revs.

CB500/550 / Re: Cb500 Four K3 Jetting
« on: October 13, 2023, 09:55:05 PM »
Reference the jetting advice, based on K2-K6's suggestion and after several variations, I went a similar way with my CR750 Rep (race exhaust with basic baffles and foam filters). Ended up with standard mains (did try larger), 1 notch richer (down a notch) and 1 up on slow runner jet size. Having tried several combinations/variations over time, the biggest improvement in 'across the range' performance was the 1 size up on the slow running jet size - seemed to smooth the transition between lower revs to higher range running

Why do they have pliers - is there any routine maintenance that needs them? I think my zx6-r 1999 toolkit has them, so there must be a reason?

Removing the axle split pin?
