Seems a bit harsh to declare all daylight MOT'd bikes not fit for purpose because some idiot road one at night.

I have a bike on daylight MOT that I use frequently, and sensibly.

The push to cancel switch on most newer Honda's is much nicer to use, especially with numb hands.

These are brilliant, but expensive.
http://www.ipatools.com/products/index.php/diamond-tip-electrical-terminal-cleaners.html

Using an abrasive removes the plating, but if they're already corroded it's gone anyway, pack with dialectic grease after cleaning to prevent the fresh metal from corroding rapidly.

A bit defeatist but is it worth shifting?
The last knackered one I got out just revealed a very corroded bore.

I've bought three motorbatt and I'd consider one to be a dud, wont start if left a month, but will if switched back to the old varta battery.

With original wiring the plug goes in place of the rectifier and the two loose wires go to two out of the three regulator wires, the third one being an earth that is no longer used. The sense wire is an ignition switched live.

Should be fine, I had a mate that did it all the time, he did a cylinder head for me once.

The risk of that setup is roaming charges if you don't configure the phone correctly, swapping sims could be easier.

You could go dual sim, not so common here but they do it in many other countries. You'd need to change phones, the elephone p9000 is a great value high spec phone that supports two sims.

CB750 / Re: Which Engine Oil should I use ?
« on: November 28, 2016, 09:32:08 AM »
The oil thread gravitational pull is starting.....

There is a standard for oil for wet clutches so clutch slip is easily avoided http://www.oilspecifications.org/articles/JASO_MA_JASO_MB.php

Gearboxes should also have EP additives to reduce wear, but you rarely see that bit debated, it's always about the clutch because that's where you can feel the difference.

Personally for road bikes I just buy any known brand bike specific oil, yes the prices are a rip off, but it saves having to understand all the oil threads. (for trials where the clutch feel is more important I use Motul 300v)

Never tried a bubble, but for a cold start try 4 kicks with ignition off, full choke and full throttle before trying to start it as normal.

I'll consider myself warned! had no idea.

This bike was restored at some point so whether the paint has lead in it is not known.

Thanks.

You can get a test kit for lead paint, I've seen them in B&Q - although that must of been a while ago as I haven't been in their for years.

I was told on here that you couldn't get k3 rubbers. I ordered some listed on eBay and they weren't correct.

Red rubber grease is ok, warming can help, but expect it to take some effort regardless of the assembly order.

Probably too far north for you but I've had work done by Cleasby Crankshafts in Durham 3 or 4 times.
