Bike now transferred onto the new donor frame with its original engine fitted.
I was going to rebuild the Irish bike ( Purple One) back to standard, but someone had chopped a bit off the frame. I dropped on the spare frame and engine with a few more bits I needed and decided to rebuild from the frame up.
Once i had the engine running I started the transfer and sent the harness off to Big Al to make a new one, so the bike would be as sound as possible. Cleaned treated the frame new bearings and bushes. Then a straight swap over.
It seems you can no longer get the original rear mudguard for UK spec as these were slightly longer than us spec, the original has been chopped and is really poor, may try getting it welded back up and re-chrome later but for now I have used a 400/4 rear mudguard and adapted to fit - looks close to original, rear light mount points were different so I will have to do something to mask this?
I bought a replica seat from DS as the original had been defoamed and chopped about. I stripped it down to loose the fiberglass base as the seat base was ok just needed sorting and rebuilt back to standard.
Bought a new grab bar from japan but really struggled to find indicator stalks. I eventually found out that the CX500 had the same fittings
The wheels are now all cleaned and painted awaiting new bearings and tyres, once the harness arrives she should be up and running ok.
Primed the paint work to loose the purple, it's going to be red once it's done.
Got most of the main work done - Still to do
Polish alloy on engine it is really heavily oxidised at moment been stood out of bike for that long Wheel Bearings, Tyres, Sort brakes - wrong front disc & new rear shoes needed new exhaust system front to back New handlebars if possible they seem to be discontinued and chrome is a bit gone - could always have them re-chromed I suppose. Sort rear Mudguard New Front Mudguard New headlamp mounts present are none standard Side reflectors for front frame Repaint & Decals

Sourced some spares with all original parts that i needed plus spares to start another one - this bike has been in bits for over 25 years - engine turns over with good compression so I have a good frame original wheels and an original engine to work with
still need the missing indicator stalk from rear

From what I am informed the standard wheels had the black caps at the end of the spoke/rim joints
Don't think they are Dunstalls, but look tidy and similar to Dunstall - The noise ain't what a dream should sound like though.
New replica seat now fitted and bike primed ready for paint later on, I had to lose that dark purple colour. Electrics all work just missing one rear indicator stalk

Bike starts and runs ok - (No Chain fitted yet) Once sump plug was tightened up
F2 caliper fits front brakes so sorted on that Seat requires replacing DS if need be? Dream ears for headlamp Rear indicator stalks=Indicators Rear Light- ebay Fitted a 400/4 rear guard temp fit - Old mudguard was cut in 2 so going to attempt to rejoin, sort rot out and re chrome as you cant seem to find original or pattern replacements the one i bought was supposed to fit even invoice said 400/4 Grab Bar on order Swinging arm - Standard exhaust Standard Wheels Front Mudguard Refinish in Red with Decals
it won't happen overnight due to house move but this time next year

Left school at 15 in 1972 went into Royal Navy as a junior marine engineering mechanic left after 6 months due to bullying - shame it was a good career. Started as a miner underground work as a trainee at 15 and half up to ripper and faceworker at 27, decide to leave as I had a young family and wanted a career which would not kill me. signed on for 2 weeks and got job as a school caretaker progressed to senior caretaker then training instructor then contracts manager in charge of half local council sites. Left to work with South Yorkshire Police as contract,s manager in charge of all police stations cleaning operations progressed to Direct service manager in charge of soft services Then Facilities manager. Retired in 2015 - after working from 15 to 57 starting at the bottom and ending up as high as my career choice would allow me to progress with only 2 weeks not employed. Diverse, but great working life met some excellent people and now happily retired.

We have sourced a set of spoke wheels to refurbish, but unsure if just to save the melber mags or sell them on
The wheels are excellent refurbished condition, they don't take up any room and are getting rarer by the year.
You never know when we have completed the 2nd F1 yellow project we may start another one going.

All The old wiring Harness removed and you can see why we had a few gremlins Only issue was new coil packs had male connections same as loom - not a problem female double coupler used All new fittings replaced with exception of switch gears these are still in transit Gremlins all gone thanks to the new harness Quality of work from Big Al is excellent and I would recommend anyone with a butchered Harness to invest in a new one from Him.

Hi all sorry now working away so updates are slow on progress with project 1 Red completed, it time to further progress Project 2
Yellow project 2 is now underway again as Keith Jnr is aiming for going to TT on it this year
The harness and electrics keep raising issues so we have decided to renew the system and get rid of all the gremlins
New Parts to fit: Wiring harness - (Thanks Big Al - the harness is spot on and will be a real bonus) Rectifier - DS Fusebox - DS new switchgear left & right for both bikes - classic bikes Germany Coil Packs - DS Fuel Lines - Car Store
Original down pipes off to be re-chromed original silencer to fit on return I will get some pics if I can as Keith Jnr Progresses
strip down starts this weekend
next stage will be on the wheels to return to spokes - if we can source some hubs?
Cheers

The old harness on the yellow CB750 F1 project 2 is poor and really needs replacement.
We could just build another harness but would need new connectors, correct coloured wires etc, so maybe a pattern harness would be more sensible and cost effective?
Which would then lead to where could i get one from?
Anyone tackled this or know of where i can get a replacement/ new harness ?
Cheers

I also decided on Avon Road Riders from local motorcycle shop - unsure of prices but think it was £90 for front and £110 for back - not certain on price but tyres are spot on
