CB750 / Re: New Chrome Springs
« on: July 07, 2016, 08:38:30 AM »
Sorted - Confirmed with supplier they are suitable for F1 Koni shocks so when I get home later this year I will be fitting my new chrome springs and dumping the old black painted ones

Springs were £40.00 NOS so hopefully they wont be marked much

CB750 / New Chrome Springs
« on: June 28, 2016, 12:53:58 PM »
On the F1 I have presently got painted Black springs on the Koni shocks.
They work perfect, but wondered if these chrome replacements would fit.

Ikon & Koni parallel chrome springs Pair 250mm long x 57mm dia 17/22/30kgs cm

Pair of Chrome progressive rated springs suitable for Koni and Ikon Dial a ride shock absorbers, springs have been made specially and are parallel on the outer profile with an outside diameter of 57mm , this gives extra clearance around the chain guard area on some motorcycles , springs are 250mm long x 17/22/30 kg per cm rating

Any advice please?

CB750 / Which Owners manual?
« on: June 10, 2016, 10:06:07 AM »
I have found 3 different owners manuals for the CB750 F1 and cannot identify which one for which bike, if anyone can clarify what was original issue please

The brown one was from the states

The Blue & Yellow ones from the UK

We have a 1977 F1 in Sulphur Yellow and a 1978 F1 in Candy Red

And this is my new  come out of retirement transport for the summer

Try tapping the flasher unit - it may just be stuck on the terminals inside

(Project 2  - 1977 Yellow F1)

After looking for a pair of F1 fork leg base units with no Joy,I decided to try another option
The bike had F2 forks with twin discs and the fork legs/sanctions were fine.
Ash helped me out with a pair of K7 fork bottoms.
Trigger helped me out with F1/K7 brake plate B.
The braided hoses and mudguard off the red project 1 they fitted nicely as a good replacement for now.
The allen studs in the base of the forks are not the easiest to get out but a bit of patience and ingenuity made it happen.

My allen keys did not fit and one was rounded, so I used a screwdriver drill set bit upside down to fit the allen keys.
After a bit of bashing the bit was a tight fit, then a spanner on the hexagon sides they came out easy enough.

Before:

After

The fork legs transferred over easy, just got to refill with oil ,bleed the brake and then repaint calliper

Another step closer to having 2 F1's looking and running well.

Recommended Sources for Parts and Services / Paint - South Yorkshire
« on: April 06, 2016, 10:28:20 AM »
I have just been to see about a paint job for the jag and was passed to Arnie at Pro Kustoms for the coachline.

I was impressed with the quality of his work and he had a few 750/4 tanks and panels in for painting.
He airbrushes the decals rather than vinyl stickers and the quality looks excellent.

His workload means about a 2 month turn around at present
Average cost is around £400 for tank with painted decals and side panels

Hi Ash - could this be a resolve to my fork issue

would my F2 stanchions drop into the K7 bottoms?

If so let me know what you want for the bottoms and I don't think your too far from me to collect

Hi Trigger

I was hoping to use the chromed legs from the F2 forks and fit them into F1/K6/K7 Bottom alloy legs (if I can find any)

If its just the length of the chromed tubes thats different it shouldn't be a problem using a F1/K6/K7 bottom unless they just ain't compatable.

I don't want to be spending daft money and ending up with a mismatch that just won't fit - like you say ideally  just find a bog standard set of F1 forks - problem would be solved

CB350/400 / Re: Brake master cylinder. Rebuild oem or pattern?
« on: April 05, 2016, 11:26:09 AM »
I would personally buy a seal kit for the existing master cylinder, they range from about £14 for pattern parts to about £20.00 for original.
Easy enough to replace with a bit of patience

CB750 / K6/K7 Front Forks - F1?
« on: April 05, 2016, 10:13:15 AM »
Looking at our options and it would seem that F1 forks are limited in availability .We presently have F2 forks fitted but my question is in compatibility of various models.

I know the F1 fork legs are longer than the K6, but could I fit the f2 chromed fork legs into K6 or K7 bottom units.
or are they similar but not compatible.?

Any options for consideration the f2 fork legs has no fittings on the bottom units for the F1 mudguards
We can keep what we have for present but just so I know what to watch out for when I find them for sale

What is it? / Re: What's the bike?

Yup XL125 - great little puller on steep bankings and loads of laughs

We used these as our fun bikes for off roading up the fields

You would get shot and bike impounded if we did that now

Cheers
