Title: Japanese Domestic K0 at Lotherton Hall Show 10kGBP
Post by: AshimotoK0 on July 27, 2014, 05:56:29 PM
Japanese Domestic K0 at Lotherton Hall VJMC Northern Show 10k GBP ONO today ... see pics attached

For that price I would expect non verbage, scripted DID rims and a Yamiya or original seat cover... but hey what do I know. Note the domestic market red indicator lamp on the top yoke between the clocks to indicate over the Japanese speed limit I believe. Clock covers did not look right to me either. It must be late K0 as it has a single cut fender. Somehow these bikes don't look as nice  in Gold.  I think that's the colour for the K2 but it will be original as K0's were available in gold but not in the UK.

If it's someone on here's bike, it's by no means a criticism , just my saddo obsession with originality... probably only  just shows how much these have rocketed in price since I bought mine in 2008.

Anyone else go there  today? 1st time for me!

Cheers .. AshD

I went to the show today, weather was good. The K0 was interesting but a bit over priced for it's condition.
The clocks where raised higher than normal, not sure if it's a Japanese spec or the owners adjustment?

Outstanding Suzuki GT750 on show

Yes nice weather Alan, and a lovely setting, there was also a nice 750K2 and  a couple of 400/4's but sadly no CB250K0 for me to look at,  only a K2.

Funny story, there was funny little Lancashire guy  tucked on a stall round the back, who had a pack of four metal clad plug caps, unpriced, he told me they were 30  GBP  so I offered 25 and he said no they would go for 60 on eBay all day long. So gave him 30 quid and then he said that 30 was for just for one!!! Do they really go for 60 on eBay? They are 'Sh**e anyway but ok for a show bike. Not for 120 quid four a set of four though.
That 'On all Fours' guy's stuff seems a tad dear as well. I didn't bother talking to him, after a grumpy response I got from him  at Stafford one time.

Cheers .. AshD

John Wyatts (his customers I believe)  Gold/White stripe K0 looked nicer (same colours as the 'Brighton' pp bike)

Well if you think that asking price for that KO is a bit over the top there is a 1965 CB160 listed on ebay at the moment starting at £5250 (item No 231287458853) the listing states in was restored by Rising Sun at a cost of £20000! That right twenty grand. Oh, and the asking price includes a can of fuel tank sealant! Clearly the tank is suspect.

I have a CB160 which is more or less in the same restored condition but the fuel tank isn't suspect. It also lives in the house, not on display but hidden under the stairs.

There really are some around who do value these bike way over the top.

Never got on with my CB160  Peter, I owned it after my 175 sloper  for a very short time and it seemed very dated, even in 1974, same with the CB72 I had. I then got a K2 CB250 in candy gold /white and it just seemed so much nicer with the candy paint, chrome and separate instruments. Same with the 450 bomber. I much preferred the slightly later one with the chrome and candy paint. But everyone to their own I suppose. No one is going to argue on the beauty/ practicality of the  CB400/4 though, those pipes are a work of art IMHO.

That eBay CB160 on eBay is a Hull reg bike Peter  and it probably was supplied by Ken Blakey, a very, very early Honda UK dealer in Hull, who never ever gets a mention anywhere. BTW John Wyatt is not actually in York, as the eBay listing says,  he is in Tockwith N. Yorks. Price sounds like our friend 'Frank' of Motorcycles Unlimited in London would charge.

Cheers .. Ash

PS will have to stop all this late night typing , my daughter thinks I am up to no good!

I don't know Pete. The owner was not around. I suspect it may be one that was on eBay recently  that I sold a K0 seat cover and K2 shocks to--- called 'madjack' on eBay. He was definitely in Yorkshire somewhere and it seems a bit of a coincidence as he was selling a Gold Jap import K0. I think the one he had was brought back by a GI to the States. seemed a decent sort of a guy when I sold him the parts on eBay.

Cheers ...Ash
