This appears to be the correct collar and the correct way round!
Correct me if I'm wrong please!

Thanks Bryanj for the tip on a supplier. I had wrongly thought that I would ONLY get them at DS but after reading your advice, I tried my local Honda dealer (Fowlers, Bristol) and lo, they had them in stock, same price as DS and free postage! So, still extremely expensive for what they are but a good result nontheless!
Bits arrive tomorrow so back to fitting the pipes now!
All good things
Alex

I'm also happy to offer these collets to anyone who might be able to use them!

Thanks folks... all advice happily recieved. I'll definitely try my local honda people as well.
Ive included a pic of the ones I was given but they are definitely too shallow! Oh yes, I do have new copper rings but thanks for checking.

I totally agree that Spanner Rash's advice was spot on and similary, I got through the registration process without a glitch....MOT exempt and Historic Class.  Took two months though!
I got nice pressed aluminium plates from a place in Gloucester called Chase Lane Plates. Good price.

CB750 / 750 K7 Exhaust Collets / flanges

A long shot I imagine but on fitting a new set of 4:4 repro pipes I have found that I need the eight split collets that fit at the top of the pipes at the manifold.
I had some which I was given together with the collars however they are way too shallow - so obviosly not the right ones!

Does anyone have some spare or know of a place to get them? I have seen them on Silvers website but they are pretty expensive when you need eight!
Maybe there is an alternative that would fit this exhaust that someone might be aware of?

Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

CB750 / Cb750 K7 exhaust brackets
« on: August 10, 2021, 09:36:37 PM »
Can anyone help? I'm in need of brackets or muffler stays as they say in America to attach a repro set of 4 into 4 pipes to my project K7.
I have the header clamps so I think thats all i need.
Any help or advice would be great or if anyone knows someone who can make them?
Thanks

Hi again.  What was the thickness of the washer you used?

Thanks

CB750 / Fitting Throttle cables CB 750 K7
« on: July 12, 2021, 06:21:34 PM »
Greetings all. I have installed new throttle cables on my 750 K7 but I find that when the securing nuts on the guide pipes at the handlebar end are fully tightened, the rearmost one (has a little flange on the inner part) still has some slack in it meaning that the guide pipe can wiggle around. I have been reluctant to apply much force as the alloy of the swithc housing is notoriously weak. Am I missing something? If anyone can enlighten me that would be great.

Thanks

Alex

CB500/550 / CB550 sprocket question
« on: December 06, 2017, 10:18:25 PM »
I have a CB550 F and I wondered if I could change the existing sprocket(s) to give better cruising speed at lower revs. I relise there would be a cost in acceleration but does anyone have any advice on this?

Thanks
Alex
