Title: Whats it worth?
Post by: Green1 on November 10, 2016, 07:54:37 PM: Today I have been offered a UKreg Parakeet Yellow 400/4
Its in its origanal OK but tired paint
New front and rear mudgaurds and front brake caliper,
Powdercoated frame and stands

But its a non runner as it turns over but doesn't fire.
Scruffy wiring,Crap seat,headlight missing and theExhaust is scrap but has nice header pipes

A good wiring loom tip; before you do anything to it put it in the dishwasher. It comes up really clean and you can see what needs doing to it.

Post by: mike the bike on November 11, 2016, 08:51:46 PM: Dishwashers don't wash with salt. Salt is just used to backflush the ion exchange unit in the water softener. After 3 rinse cycles, there won't be any residual detergent left on the loom. Trust me, it works.
Mick, best to remove the loom from the bike first.

The wiring loom is about the only part of a bike thats not been through the wash.

Post by: mike the bike on November 11, 2016, 09:58:06 PM: I put my Katana 650 loom through a wash cycle. I was surprised to see all the wiring was different colours, before washing they were all a shitty black colour. After hanging it up to dry it was good as new.
