Title: PD46 float height - again
Post by: Ashdowner on March 31, 2017, 10:22:30 AM
All together now - what is the definitive method of measuring the 14.5mm float height on a PD 46 carb? I've read all the threads that exist and the options seem to be .......:

A. From the carb body to the underside at the free tip of the float.

B..From the top of the gasket when on the carb body to the underside at the free tip of the float (which to me makes no sense cos the gasket lays in the gasket groove in the bowl not on the carb body)

i usually tip the carb on its side on an angle (hinges up) and tilt them until the tang of the float just pushes the valve closed, not compresses the spring. measure from the highest point of the float to the gasket surface of the carb
Hope that made some sense
Phil

Yes Philgresty, but by "gasket surface" you mean the face of the carburettor body.
