Title: White field coil wire to stator
Post by: Niko on April 02, 2017, 06:42:13 PM
Hi,...I fitted a combined reg and rec.
The only way I can get it to work is to add a separate switched live to the whites.

I originally fed power to the reg using a black cable only....but no joy.

I assumed the unit would output 12 v to the white wire ?

Can anyone shed any light please.

If you have put 12 volts into the white wire of the reg/rec you may have fried it.

Hi...

It wasn't working before...nothing coming from the 3 yellows on the stator.

That was with a switched feed to the black and a red wire back to battery. White on the stator was to white on the reg rec.....but no voltage at the white

With the white powered up....I get a result from the stator.

I wanted to know if the rec reg should output voltage to the white.....and not need an extra feed.

The electronic reg/rec, when wired correctly, need no extras inputs. If it does not work it is either defective or wired wrongly which 90% of the time makes it defective. There should have been a wiring diagram with it as colours do not always match with aftermarket units

I hope the replacement works out for you. I have/had the same issue with my newly rebuilt 400/F. The E-Bay reg/rec sold as specifically for the 400/F plugged right in but I could read only 0.05VDC on the white and no increase in voltage at the battery or on the white with variations in rpm. When I put a jumper between the black and white wires, all seemed fine. I'll be plugging in the replacement later today and I hope it works - otherwise I'll be thinking I did something wrong with the new wiring harness - odds are against me getting two duff units in a row, aren't they? :P

I have voltage on my white now and a positive feed back to my battery.

Cheers
