Title: Clutch drag?
Post by: Niko on April 16, 2017, 06:18:52 PM
Hi

Now that my bikes running I have another puzzle.

No chain fitted yet.
Pull in the clutch and try the kickstart.....no resistance...clutch engaged.
Start the bike in neutral.....front sprocket stationary.

Drop it into first ....sprocket turns...i.e. Drive.

Pull in the clutch.....and the sprocket still turns with some force.

Is that normal, will the drag of the chain counteract it.?

Cheers

run it on the center stand, and have the rear wheel in the air,use the rear brake to stop the wheel with the clutch pulled in

Kickstart don't work with clutch lever pulled 'cos it's a secondary kick

Secondary kick means via the clutch, primary kick is direct to crank (ish)

A paddock stand will make your life easier. There's lot's you can do with the bike upright. And running.
