I don't ride without a camera in my pocket just in case some plank wipes me out or some such.
But just found out commuting in the rain has taken its toll on my camera. It wasn't just wet its been bathing in my pocket. So now its destined for the bin.
Any recomendations for a small waterproof replacment. It doesn't have to be high tec just want something that will work when needed.

I don't have a smart phone.
They get broken at work as there to fragile.
My phone is about ten years old and I don't intend on changing it until it stops working

Assuming you don't want a hard wired one for the bike and just something for your pocket, what about a second hand gopro from ebay?

Unsure if size and cost are in ranges for you

As suggested in above post, they are pretty tough, has 2 year guarantee too. Both still and video to capture any situation.

When i was in the state i bought a small camera in a rubber case that was themepark waterproof. If you cant find similar i might be persuaded to part with it

I'm not to worried about fitting one to the bike as I tend to get carried away so don't really want to film myself riding like a twat. A gopro may be a bid bulky in my pocket but I suppose I could stuff it under the seat.
I don't have a set budget but I don't want to spend silly money on something I don't intend on using much.

I got a second hand fujifilm 12.2 finepics with hard case not long ago for the same reason for £3 from the car boot sale and keep it in a good poly bag. It takes good pics really. :)

Can’t go wrong for the price as proper waterproof are around £100.

My wife bought me one and mounted it on the tank on my ZZR1100 and after the first ride out transferred the video to my laptop - realised that the evidence of the speedo readings prior to any accident evidence probably wouldn't go down well!

I must admit I have been tempted to try the Gopro copy as there cheap enough to leave under the seat at all times.
Just got to remember to charge it occationally.
I wounder if it will be OK to leave plugged in permanently under the seat? :-\

Out today three seperate cars have tried to take me out the worst one at a cross roads where the cars to my right just refused to giveway. I had right of way as they were on minor roads with giveway lines. I saw the first one wasn't going to stop at the line so started to slowdown the second just blindly followed the first across the junction. Now hard on the brakes thumb on horn I stopped less then an inch or two from there rear door. As always the usual responce when I went ape s**t at them was I was going to fast so its all my fault. I wasn't I was going alot slower then usual because of crap on the road and new front tyre with less then 20miles on it.
After my terrifying ride out today I'm now considering a hardwired camera on the bike. I do have one on the van for insurance ressons. But it records time, speed and GPS location
I don't speed in the lower limits but I do get going once out in the open. So don't want something that records my speed and it must be small and inconspicuous fit & forget.
-
Dont leave plugged in permanently the charging systems are marginal at best
-
Forgot to say it would be on my Guzzi as thats the bike that does distance work so tends to be on the road for hours at a time
-
Thats even worse as the electrons dont speeka da lingo

If you don't want a record of your speed then don't have a camera on the go whilst riding. Should anything happen it can all be very easily worked out from the recording.
