“Very rare - where will you find another example of this Iconic 70's superbike.”
I can think of a few.
Maybe he means “very rare in this condition and I’m not going to pay for someone to take it away”.

But it is Triggers favourite price!
-
That would be a challenge. Poor bike :-(
-
'Cash on collection' I hope he can give me the 1p change I'd be expecting!
Does someone have Henry Cole's number, he'll buy it for his next series.

And it will start first kick as they always do ;)

("for parts or not working")
I would be pleasantly surprised if more than 1 to 2% of whats there is re-useable. More of a "ditch" find than a barn find.
Agreed Henry Cole would love it, "just a bit of polishing and the usual and predictable haggle and it will sell".
Anyone want to lay bets on whether the engine would even turn over?
It will only cost £25k to restore it to as new :)
-
well, it is MOT exempt, so a new battery, blow up the tyres......
Certainly is rare, never seen anything like it!
-
Should be fine.... I mean....he put rags in the inlets to stop dust getting in.....
Would make a good project for the shorter rider, as the collapsed frame puts the seat closer to the ground.
But....now correct me if I am wrong here....but aren't 'Barn Finds' supposed to actually be IN the barn?
Of course....I had to watch the item. Just out of morbid curiosity, would anyone REALLY buy iron oxide in the shape of a Honda?
-
We shall see.

Aluminium oxide please

I'm watching now too, curious to know if anyone will pay to take away scrap. Why doesn't he just dig a hole, it's almost completely returned to the earth already. The frame number is hilarious, it looks like it's only paint.
-
Now that’s what I call patina - Canal find was it?
A bit of T-Cut needed, but good luck unseizing the engine and brakes, let alone taking it apart.
Leave it on the end of your drive, mate, the pikeys’ll take it soon enough, it worked for my old washing machine and my flat packed corrugated iron garage.
-
Doesn’t push, bring something to manhandle it.
Dustpan and brush springs to mind.
-
Someone has bid 99p, I hope they aren't spending much on fuel to come and get it.
Even if it was free, I can't see a single part I'd use again. Still, fences don't all prop themselves up, you know, or maybe someone has a hole to fill.
-
It would make a great boat anchor. Looks like someone's already done just that.
-
Hold on.....I spotted something....
There is a NEW looking bolt on the chain adjuster. That's got to be part of the 99p covered right there.
-
Someone must need that bolt, it's on £10.50. 6 bids

The engine looks salvageable, I've got worse running again.
Last night I did 120 miles on an engine that was left outside for years with no starter motor or s'plugs, it was seized, full of water, snapped off spark plug in one cylinder and a bent valve, all it cost me to repair was a new set of valve guide seals and a WHOLE LOT of work. I certainly think theres £50 - £100 in this heap of junk if looking at it that way.
Its local to me too, if I was looking for a 750 motor I'd be bidding.
I guess my standards are a lot lower than everyone here, but a running engine is another one saved.
-
I admire your optimism, anything that can be saved from land-fill is a bonus. I feel bad now, think I might have to go and get my 500/4 wheels from the scrap pile and put them back in the workshop, they're much better than the ones on the ebay bike.
-
That reminds me of a C90 someone delivered to me some time ago, put some petrol in and hooked up a battery and started and ran sweetly. The PO assured me that it hadn’t run for 30 years, took the engine out and dumped the rest. Ironically delivered to the recycling centre, can they recycle rust?
-
Predominantly members here do restorations, fair play to you all, I love looking at them and I'm glad someone is saving these bikes in standard trim. However that costs LOTS! as we all know. There are folk like me who love old bikes, I too have done ground up resto's costing a fortune but also take beyond salvageable economically and physically examples like this and build customs out of them.
Bearing that in mind, imagine you want to build a cheap chopper, have a CB750 hardtail frame bought cheap (probably from someone on here ;D) and you need an engine, wheel hubs, brakes + M/C, a few bits n' pieces like engine brackets/bolts, solenoid, yokes, coils, maybe even salvage the exhaust downpipes.........
It starts to look like £100 worth of bits all of a sudden.
-
can they recycle rust?
😄
-
Put it into class case as a piece of art in tribute to the 1970s.......... ;D

I saw a CB750 chop at the NABD rally a couple of years ago, the only Honda part was the engine. Closer inspection revealed that is was a sandcast! I couldn’t help but wonder if the owner new, and if not how much he’d take for it. Sadly he was never around, probably sick and tired of being pestered by chancers like me.

So this bike is the perfect purchase, its at £11, get the engine running, sell the sandcast engine and he's £££ up.
Heres another one to think about, if the seller had removed the engine, powerwashed it off and put it on ebay for £50 start price he'd have got that easy, and folk probably bid it up more. I don't see a horrendously corroded poor old bike, I see potential in parts.
-
And how easy would it be to take the engine out - just tap the frame near the engine mounts with a hammer and it would fall to the floor!
-
damn...that's a good point. After the struggle I had getting my 750 motor out.....this would be an absolute breeze!
-
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D just laughed out loud
Bit of a long wait to get the engine out though, waiting for your frame to rot away ;D ;D.
-
Someone's paid £77 for it anyway. Good luck with the rebuild.
