Just taken delivery of my 77 F2. Just having a little weep and then will resume the autopsy.
In the mean time, does anybody recognise this. Its deffo not a F2 seat?
-
No idea about the seat Phil but someone will know I'm sure.

See if you can read the number near the rust patch, inbetween the rubber cushions. Then look it up on the attached :)
If it's 369 it is CB250/360G5 ..like this :-

That link above is the best reference for Honda codes I have ever found :)

Sesman .. do you know my mate Woody's shop in Haleys Terrace?
He's got a Vincent 1000cc in there my mate ... Roger is always trying to get him to sell it to him.
It used to be one of Alan Mountains Honda shops.

I do indeed. Was peering through his window last weekend...didn’t see the Vinny, though.
Spent many a wasted hour at Alan Mountains. Little did I know I’d be living in his basement a few years later when it was converted to flats!
My brother completed a 400Four build donated by Alan’s widow a couple of years back who lives opposite...small world! Turned a bitsa Basket case to good runner.
Yep, it’s a 369. Know anybody who would like one, it’s no good to me. Or swap for some CB550 F2 parts.

I have known Woody since we were students together plus my other student mate Chris Brack once owned a bike shop in Viking Road, which he took over from a guy called Mick, who moved on to start the York Suzuki Centre. My really early UK 750 (from 1st batch of 20) came from Mountains, plus my 1st CB400F I owned XDN 128R came from him. He sold tons of commuter bikes and was one of their top early dealers, visiting Japan a lot I believe.
Photo of Mountains main shop below...I think the guy in the doorway is now Woody's mechanic .. another Dave.
I would bung that seat on eBay if it's half decent. Surprisingly, the G5 model is now very popular and parts sell really well.

Yes that’s the shop alright. The high kerb on exit claimed many a new bike owner :-\
I think you mean Mick Butterfield?

Hang on a minute. Was that a Red F1 .something familiar about that registration. I bought a Red 400 4 in about 1978,79.

Sorry .. it was Varnish Blue .. it originally was supplied new by Mountains but I bought it from Mick Buttfield at about 1 year old when he was in Viking Road. It's still out there somewhere according to the DVLA.

I had a Red 400/4 I bought from Mountains in about 1976/77. I can't recall the reg number, although being York I'm pretty sure it began with OVY.
