Title: Newbie
Post by: Tonyh on May 27, 2021, 12:26:25 PM
Hi Everybody, my names Tony from Leicester and have just migrated from SOHC. net. My current project is a 1977 Honda CB550F Super Sport which was an American import and purchased in Jan 21. I am in the process of replacing parts that were not working or bodged. It had spent a long time stored in a barn and had been a home to some sort of rodent (air filter full of sweet corn & nests in the air box). A lot of the work has been done now, just left with sorting out the clutch cable, fitting 2 new throttle cables, fitting a new wiring harness and then getting it running. The 1st photo was just after i received the bike.[attach=1]

Hi and welcome, nice looking bike (except that hideous yank seat!) and great to see stock pipes on one, VERY scarce nowadays.

Welcome to the correct forum. That's got potential to be a lovely bike, but ditto on the seat. Make a fire and put the seat on that.

Hi all, many thanks for the welcome. The seat was the 1st thing to go, besides the look the vinyl was ripped, the foam was shot and had 8 vermin nest's in it. 1 stripped the seat, modified the seat pan and gave it to my upholsterer in Hinckley to do his majic. The downpipe's are original but not the silencer, the original was rotted through. The new 1 is an OS (they reside in Staffordshire) made silencer.  I am struggling with a very stiff clutch at the moment, heavy duty springs or a pinched (new) cable!. Here's how she looks at the moment.[attach=1]

It looks pretty good aside from the mouse damage I like the King & Queen seat!

Hi Tony, mine had the same ridiculous seat, gothic side stand rear wheel too small, pathetic chain guard. Overall not a good look in my opinion. But that wasn’t the worst of it. Good luck with the project!
