Just bought some NOS parts and these were in with them. The CB SOHC/4's were definitely on their last legs by then.

8% vat. They were giving them away. A CB100N for just over 400 quid....... Oh + vat at todays rate would be an extra 80 quid. Al-tho in Hungary its 27% vat rate. £400 was still a lot of cash back in 78.

Julie, that is very interesting as my 550k3 was first registered in Feb 79. I always wondered what new price was. I bought it in 87 for £210 and it was rough. Managed to clean up and replace a few parts to make a respectable runner, that lasted 28 years until full resto required. Still got it but would never sell it. Couldn’t get back what I spent on it. 😂

I'll have a CBX in red please Julie for £2,750 if you have one in stock 👍

I bloody wish I had 10 of them at that price Dave 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Edit.... Saying that, I still wouldn't be able to touch the ground on a CBX, just the same as I couldn't back in the day.

I wonder why they list 250RZ, wasn't the UK one 250RS? Minor detail though.
I don't have a calculator handy but with inflation, I wonder how those prices look in today's money?!
-
Based on average inflation of 4% and 43 years, an F2 would be around £6k. So I’m guessing the average inflation value of 4% can’t be correct? Office of national statistics anybody.
-
£6,577 according to https://www.hl.co.uk/tools/calculators/inflation-calculator
That's for goods and services though. Motor trade inflation may be different.
-
I’d say that was Bob on as goods and services along with raw materials contribute more to the average inflationary value.
Has anybody got a parking, pilot light lamp holder that can sell me. It’s for a CB550 1977?
-
I was surprised by the price of the CBX being so much higher than the GoldWing etc. No wonder they didn't sell as many.

Notice how it stayed the same in 79 whereas a lot of other bikes had a price hike so they must have realised they had pushed the price a little too high.
I remember paying the £1995 for my K2 GL1000 in 1978 which was a lot of money to me then and I was on a good wage so £2750 was the realm of rich kids.

That's the Moto-X bike "Red Rocket" 250 two stroke twin shock with all red engine too, I first raced on one of those.
Nice find Julie, I can remember looking at most of them in local showroom and not being able to afford on apprenticeship wages.

Strange the CB250RSA is not listed in 1979 considering it was a UK market model?

£18 for delivery. Fabulous.
I was speaking to the courier who collected my recently sold CB900FZ and he said he was pretty much collecting /,delivering all day long. it reminded me that I used to just ensure that my breakdown cover was up to date then get a lift to the sellers and ride the 'new' bike home....assuming it would work. Or go as far as it would then let the AA take the strain if there was a problem. Buyers these days just use delivery vans.... there's no adventure anymore!

That £18 delivery is what Honda charged the dealers and they passed it on
