Hey
Just tried fixing a top end oil leak in my CB550F with a gasket kit from eBay. It still leaks oil though, which makes me believe that the gasket kit was not very good. Can anyone recommend a supplier of high quality gasket kits in Europe? Thank you!

Hi Alex, Try CMSL (Honda spares Netherlands) they can be a bit on the expensive side or David Silver Spares, UK.

Thank for the reply Tony!
I am a little in doubt of these work for the 550F models - can anyone give a quick look and let me know?

What make of gasket kit did you use?

All 550 use thesame gaskets but more important where is your leak from as there are a couple of known leak points thathave nothing to do with gaskets

I ended up using a Vesrah complete kit for the 550F, and that solved all my problems. Must've been a faulty kit or faulty installation with the old kit :)
Thanks for the help!

ALL newer gasket kits need thicker O rings at the oil feed through head gasket as the new asbestos free head gaskets are thicker, also a common leak is where the brackets the cam cover end caps bolt to are held to the head, there is supposed to be a soft alloy washer between bracket and head

Yeah so me Vesrah kit didn't hold up for long before the leak returned. Do you know of any kit that has thicker O-rings, taking the thicker head gaskets into account?

Nope, just get thicker O rings

Decades ago a Dutch Honda mechanic, specialized in old CBs told me he used Kawasaki O-rings for this that are slightly thicker. I don't know which however.
