just doing little jobs on my lunch break and i'm stripping the airbox. how on earth do the long bolts come off so i can paint the mounting brackets? there's a spacer which doesnt seem able to pass over the threaded part. any thoughts?

Think this cane up recently in a factory fix for warranty claims on early 750.
The original arrangement could, if the screw backed out in use, release the components on the thread end and free them to be ingested by the engine.
The fix, if I remember correctly, was a modified component that passed the threads and then was to be squeezed to distortion, and so prevent it coming off again.
Think that's what was discussed, but can't remember the thread.
