Title: raask fitting woes
Post by: captaindonutbikes on April 29, 2010, 12:50:31 PM
So feel a bit of tit asking but have i got the rearset set up right ? the manual that comes with is pretty rubbish and can't get the pedal to return properly. i have new pads on the back and the connecting rods are all set up right. tried several ways but does not seem right.

what am i doing wrong ? any help/sarcasm gratefully received  ;)

Not an expert but is it possible that the pedal is upside down or on the wrong side. Route of the link looks as if it will bind on the rose joint. My take FWIW

Raask are all like this...the footpegs, some of the brackets, springs etc are all standardised. It's the specific mounts for things like the attachments to the brake shaft & gear change that are differant. As such, it looks a bit 'Heath-Robinson' when put together. A friend had some on his FJ1200 & it took a bit of fabrication with some spare material to get them running how they should.

The rose joints are meant to help with any misalignment, but from the photos it looks like they are doing their best to compensate to a larger degree, such that they are binding. A few minutes with a file may well remove sufficient material so's to be able to align the bits more accurately.
