Any help can you do the clutch without draining the oil
-
Should be fine even on centre stand, but side will tip it away from the opening.
Virtually all the oil should be in the tank on 750, with just residual in the sump. That's assuming the check valves etc working OK.
Use a drip tray as you'll get a little come out if it's been run recently, but nothing much usually.

Thanks for the answer only just put new oil in and the clutch still not working properly the gears clunk when changing gear so want to check plates and don’t want to waste the oil
-
Expect you have checked, but could be the adjustment at the clutch end? 1/4 to 1/2 out with a loosened off clutch cable (both ends).
-
What 750K clutch ? I think the K6 has a double plate and 6 or 7 different clutches fitted to 750K's.
-
My bike is a Honda CB750k2 1975 I have done all adjustments but haven’t looked at the clutch plate yet

Nice looking bike! Twin disc conversion too.👍

Does your VIN number start with 21*****? I'm trying to pin down exactly what model it is to try and work out what clutch it may have in it. Is it a USA model or a UK model?

Frame no cb750 2098725
Engine no cb750e 2382187
Uk reg 1975

Have you considered doing the clutch basket mod? involves drilling more holes to allow more oil to reach the plates.
-
Can you elaborate on that Ken, new one on me that. Cheers.
-
I think you'll find the later 750's are already drilled as standard, I'm 99% certain the K6's are but unsure of where through the era of K2's (in the UK model range) they started doing that from the factory. I'll have to ask Graham.
-
One other thing, if you're adjusting the clutch as per manual, the manual is wrong. It says turn the adjuster in and then in another ¼-½ in, that's incorrect. It's turn it out by that much.
-
This may explain it Roy, there was a much more detailed post on it but as yet I haven't found it, if I do I'll post a link.

It depends on what clutch is fitted to a 750K. They got better and evolved as they went on up to the K6 with double plate.
The main mistake is using old clutch plates that measure within spec but are as hard as nails.
You could have two different types of plates fitted to a 1975 K2. The outside plate could be slanted or straight groves. You will not know until you get it apart. We have never had a problem with the K2 clutch, they are smooth but all clunk a little when selecting first gear.
Not sure why your K2 is dressed like a american K2 when it is a UK model.

Any won know why the out side plate is different slanted or straight and how many holes are standard basket
-
Have now decided to take the clutch apart all plates measure 3.58 and no plate warpage
-
I have noticed that the clutch basket is different from manual ?
