After a close look at this frame I've two points to repair.
One side where the cradle joins the head and the rear shock mounts.
Does anyone have advise/experience of this work?
I'm planning to remake the rear mount completely (welder/fabricator by trade).

I would get it sandblasted first, that will reveal the full extent of the damage. May be easier to find another frame.

The front frame photo looks a bit like my 750F1, I was horrified whern I found it just before I took the frame to be powder coated, but it was weld repaired no problem and I have had no problems with it. Looking for a photo of the repaired frame but failing at the moment, if not I will take one of the bike now.
Looks like the frame was blasted and then welded prior to coating.

It's not just the one spot, if you look really close at the pictures there's corrosion all over the place.

+1 for blasting. That will help you decide on all of the repairs.

Yes the rear shock mount looks a bit iffy, but blasting will reveal the full extent, I was lucky that the place I used for the powder coating are were very motorcycle orientated and did a great job of inspecting and repairs.

A decent used frame might be safer & cheaper than the repair.

Thanks, that's just what I have, materials splayed out due to rust, did they weld around the joint?

get it blasted and acid the inside with something that acrually works such as sulphuric or brick acid, it works a treat followed by blowing loads of xinc based weld primer down the frame where you can.
Or wax oil. Unless you blast it you simply wont know, mine was like an Aero when I had it blasted and had areas that showed no sign of rot. Well chuffed I did now.

Not easy to make out but this is the weld area now, it was done in 2006, I think that they did other repairs but I can't remember where on the frame they were.
