Title: Fuel line lengths
Post by: Craizeehair on August 26, 2023, 01:30:40 PM
I recently took the tank off to carry out some maintenance work and the fuel lines from the petcock were very short. The tank has two lines out, to the two fuel inlets on the carbs, one longer and one shorter, there’s not really much there to lift the tank easily remove the lines, I’m ready to put the tank back on and slightly longer fuel lines would make it much easier.

Is there a particular length these should be, would making them a bit longer be detrimental to the performance, I seem to recall reading somewhere that some fuel lines need to be an exact length?

I’ve tried searching but had no joy in finding any info, even being able to move the tank without having to remove it could be handy.

Don't think that longer lines will affect performance but make sure any longer pipes don't crimp and restrict fuel flow

Longer tubes are prone to kinking. They really should only be long enough to be able to push the pipes on the tap outlets with a pair of pliers, or your fingers if they are very strong 💪💪💪

Thanks, I will probably put the tank back tomorrow so I will see how it goes. Maybe I just need to get the knack? Good to know I could lengthen them, even if it just by a small amount if needed, as long I can avoid kinking or crimping.

I think the length is in the parts book
