Hi tried to adjust the cam chain yesterday but it won't stop rattling.I pulled the tensioner adjuster out and oiled it that now moves freely.Does this mean I need to replace the chain. If so what's involved.
Here is a photo just because all good threads need a bit of eye candy.
Cheers Mick.

nice looking bike you have there and love the colour to 8), it's a big job to change the cam chain , its a engine out of frame job and rocker cover off at least, what sort of mileage has your bike done? cheers Mick.

How were you adjusting it as a lot of the books give duff info

Also, are you sure its the cam chain thats rattling? it could be the clutch, see if noise changes slightly when you pull the clutch in.
The clutches are always noisy but are worse when carbs are out of synch.
Nice bike!

Hi all thanks for the quick response.I know I was adjusting it right so it looks like I will be removing the engine :( as the bike has covered around 69thousand.It looks like it has been apart not that long ago so I assumed it had been done.I think I will try to contact the last owner in America to see just what has been done.

just a quick update gave it another go adjusting the cam chain.I have no idea what I did different but it worked first time no more nasty noises. :) took the bike for a run for the first time forgot I haven't fixed the master cylinder yet or registered the bike yet. ;D
