Title: Hello from Tyneside
Post by: Cookie2050 on September 19, 2013, 07:30:34 PM
Hi there, another newb from Tyneside. Just acquired a 400 four it's about 75% complete .  Plenty of work to do and I'm already adding my contribution to David silver's retirement fund ;D
Hope to get it on the road before Christmas or early next year.

Welcome. Pictures always well received whatever state your bike is in.

Info about  its provenance and the like, what you intend to do such as standard trim or not etc etc.

Do tell  :)

Thanks Tom, the bike is a 78 T reg F2 in parakeet yellow.  And it came from Read bros in Leyton london.  It needs tank  cleansed out and repainted, electrics sorted, and assembled. Should keep me occupied for the next few months.

Cool! Mine's S reg (20 Jan 1978) and came from Scooterways in Kensington High Street (original owner must have been a bit more up-market  ;) )

As for your tank (the internals at least) perhaps take a look at my POR15 thread in Tips and Tricks. For the finish, loads of people on here have had paint jobs done so search and ye shall find.

Where abouts in the country are you btw?

EDIT: Tyneside d'oh

Tom

Hi Tom - My missus has just got a parakeet yellow F2 from David Silvers, not one of the resto jobs, just a good nick bike they cleaned and serviced.  When you get yours sorted we'll meet at washington or somewhere, take some photo's - we're in Newton Aycliffe.

Tom,  Read your thread about por 15 treatment and I think that's the way to sort my tank out. I'll do it before I repaint the tank ( Can't decide whether to keep it original or do it in another colour to be different).

Stewsue, when I get it up and running I'll try and get down and compare bikes  and see what original parts are missing on mine . Looks like you've got a good one there.
