Whats the difference is it just the boiling point ???
-
Dot5 is silicone based, opinions on it are very mixed. It doesn't strip paint and it doesn't absorb water, I don't know how this relates to our bikes but in classic cars some people have had problems with seals when switching from regular fluid and some have had issues with condensation pooling in calipers as it's not absorbed.
Dot5.1 is basically a higher boiling point version of dot 3 & 4.

There is a lot owners of classic bikes with DOT 5 and not problem about it, but Totty is right also, I will change this winter from DOT 4 to DOT 5.
The problems with DOT5: is more expensive, not mixture with other fluids, and Condesation......
Thanks and sorry for my English.
