Title: 550 k3 pipes rechrome

Im considering getting these k3 pipes rechromed as long as its not extortinate.
Has anyone on the forum ever had 4 pipes rechromed?if so could you give me an idea of price?

You will be lucky to find anybody to do it as the internal "Cack" (enginmeering term) wrecks the vats

Loads of money Mate. It all depends on polishing and what condition they are in. It's more expensive to re-chrome these days.
I had 2 down pipes done £90+ the vague addition to the total. 2 lower folk legs £100+vat.

They are in very good condition internally.the exterior has face rust but no dings or damages

I would imagine it would be in the region off £400 ish, there's a fella called Bob Copper in the midlands who rechrome's 2 stroke exhausts, cheers  ;) Mick.

Bryan is right, I had to have the down pipes blasted before the any chrome.

Well the bike cost £420.so was a bit of a steal.
I think il budget £2000 tops.so £1580 left.£10 already spent on four float pins

Sorry , i was watching a 1977,CB550F on ebay that was in good nick go for £726.
Tight budget on your bike. Is the engine good?.

Yea the engine is nice and the frame is in excellent condition.im not gonna use clip on bars.probably use wide renthals.this is the original bike.

Thats a k3 i bought a few years back.its all there less a few wingnuts lol.my brother has took it and has started a rebuild.he is using this as an inspiration.

He will have to have a bigger budget than you. I was flicking from the first picture to the second with thought of how is he going to do it. And that is a lot of fu..ing work. Now everything is a lot clearer .

Should be ready by the end of the week then  :-\. Should look nice when finished. Have you tried cleaning up the K3 exhausts yet?.

There is a firm near me in a tiny village who do the silvering process, not as expensive as chroming but you really struggle to see the difference, all the bikers round here use them. I am picking up my 550 grab rail tomorrow as, for some reason, it was black instead of chrome..£30 for 4 day turnaround. I am lucky, these guys are 5 miles down the road and Dave Silvers are only 25 miles away!
