Title: rear wheel hub/spokes
Post by: kenny1059 on April 06, 2014, 11:06:26 AM
Could somebody please tell me if the rear hub on a 400f,is in the centre of the wheel,or is it offset?
I got new chrome rims and stainless spokes from CWC, on Friday. Gone to fit them together today, and realised ALL the spokes they have sent me have a right-angle bend on them. :( :(  Correct me if I'm wrong, but this doesn't matter for the front wheel, does it??
For the back wheel, the inner spokes have a 45deg, bend and the outers have a 90deg. I checked this as I took it apart.
The guy at CWC said they do a lot of 400f wheels,so I assumed they would know which spokes to send me. :(
Just wanted to know if the rear hub was offset,or not. I forgot to check when taking it apart, and hope its only the spokes.
I was hoping to get my wheels re-built today. >:( >:(
cheers,  Kenny.

I think all of our Hondas are central to the hub, I think even on the front wheel there should be 2 different angles for inner and outer spokes.

Mickwinf,  I agree that the inner spokes, front and rear should have different angles.
I will phone CWC in the morning, see what they have to say.

Drew,  Those photos are perfect. Cheers.

  Kenny.

You're very welcome. Truth is, I am delighted to offer some input rather than simply asking for help. It feels like a new phase in my forum learning! Glad it was useful, cheers, D.

+1 with what Bitsa said. I'm far from an expert on these bikes but the great thing about this forum is there's no undercurrent of being afraid to share experiences / knowledge. I've recently gained the confidence to start to try and help / answer questions that crop up, now I have a bit more experience under my belt. I've learned a huge amount from the posts on this forum so it's nice yo be able to contribute / give something back...

I rebuilt my rear wheel myself with some nice new stainless steel spokes. No problems. Rim was central to hub. Half the spokes had slightly more than 90° on them and half of the had slightly less than 90° on them, but I can't remember which way round they were  ::).
