No upgreade to front brake I'm afraid, just make sure it's all free and working properly.

Engine oil--Tesco own brand 15W40 Diesel mineral oil, Brake fluid ordinary Dot 3

Tyres are a problem due to the odd sizes on the 400, Try Metzeler or Continental

hi, and many thanks your replys and advice, yes i think i will invest in a pair of metzeler tyres, they were good on the last but one bike i had,a cd175/1978 vintage, note to flyingscotsman3-about engine oil, are you sure to us tescos own brand DIESEL mineral oil, just checking?. i will try and get some pics on-line when we get a nice day!, on the subject of tarmac, back in my teens, i worked as a dispatch rider in centrol london, and over the years, got to taste the road surface at least two times a year, most offen in the wet, and a torist stepping off the pavement, and here we go again! the good old days, anyone remember PRIDE & CLARKE, (snide and shark )some called them! in stockwell road, south east london? used to go there with some mates,on a saturday, and drool over some of the bikes there ,and ended up at the nearby greecy spoon ,please excuse the mistooks!, keep on trucking, cheers. honstan3..

Hi honstan3

I also have a 400/F F2 unrestored. Can you beat ~2.8K miles (two point 8  8) )

Bryanj - I'm using tesco oil but not diesel. I know you've recommended diesel before - likewise, why is that?

If you check the specs on the can against your handbook the diesel is nearest and has additives that help the gearbox

Hi Welcome
Like your Humour, should go well on this site.
My twin brother bought a cb500/4 from Pride and Clark in 1975 sold it a couple of years later and the owner still has it with over 100000 miles on it. Bit tatty now though.
Cheers Rich

Paul, one thing Bryan NEVER does is joke when giving advice! Yes, the oil he mentioned is perfect for our Hondas, I used to get an identical grade from work that was used in our coach engines, until they recently moved to fully synthetic:))

;D  I have always had sound advice from Brian but, I really needed to check on that one.
Well off to Tesco now instead of paying a fortune elsewhere

I do make the odd funny (at least i think they are even if the wife disagrees) but no the Oil is perfect, I still have a 25ltr drum of Silkolene(now Fuchs) transfleet 15 w 40 in the shed. tesco's has gone up in price recently and is only a gallon not 5 litre so watch that if comparing prices
