Title: Headlight needed for 550
Post by: peterengland on August 13, 2014, 02:13:01 PM
Anyone out there got a headlight assembly for a 76 550? Going for halogen conversion but all the lights I have tried do fit in the rim so I think I need to change the whole thing including bucket.

Went to Honda dealer who just shook their collective heads, when I asked if they had any headlights they said 'No'. Got one from Panks automotive which fits a dream but the trouble is now the high beam won't work and the main fuse gets hot in the carrier, but at least the headlight is bright!

Should of gone for the Z beam. If your fuses are getting hot check your ground. If that is OK the new head light is pulling too much power. Not sure if your alternator can keep the battery fully charged. You will have to ask one of the electric boys on here.

I was angling from an 'electric' reply but the battery still has 14 volts across it when bike is running, so no discernible difference to how it was before

Not sealed beam but a normal incandescent bulb with shit connectors so I went for halogen
