Hi all,
Here's me hoping to benefit from the power of this forum!
I need some new crankshaft main bearings (part no. 13315-333-003 (size Black)). They are showing as 'discontinued' (what's new?!) and they are rather holding up my dream of a cleaned, shiny rebuilt 400 being used on the road.
Do you know if and how I can get my hands on a set of 10?
Thank you all in anticipation,
D.
p.s. I could get away with 13314-333-003 (size Blue) if blacks are unavailable.

I got 9 of them
PM if intrested

So the power of the forum has been proven...
I now have in my possession 10 of the rarest bearings in the world and will shortly be installing them in a tatty old engine (that's looking almost new, apart from the years of cooling fin chips, etc.).
Thanks to all who responded and especially those who delivered (you know who you are).
I declare this topic officially closed, from my perspective, at least!
Cheers, D.

Drew, when you assemble your shells don't forget to use Graphogen. This will help with the running in of the engine.
Forgot to add: if you need this then send me your address and I will post you some. It doesn't come in small tubes and is not cheap in the 125g tube.

Well done Drew. When is it going to be running .

Thanks Trigger, PM'd.
Lynx... hmmm the $64,000 question! With a following wind and assuming I can put the bits back together in the order they're supposed to go, it'll be done this year. Just in time for, er, winter probably! I'm not rushing, but I am enjoying the work and will post some updates and pictures.
Having read another thread recently, I fall into the 'clean it up and getting looking right, but not original at all costs' brigade. But don't tell the bank manager that as, from the expenditure trail, he thinks I'm restoring a factory raced MV Agusta!

I'm just getting bits together to rebuild my spare engine. I stripped it down 18 months ago. I hope I can remember how it goes together. Should keep me out of trouble for a while anyway.

Good luck with yours Lynx.
Latest photo of mine attached (replacement mudguard still has plastic wrapping on it... just in case it's not obvious!).
Cheers, D.

In the latest Classic Bike mag's Honda 400/4 resto they found the crank mains to be slightly scored and gave it to a crankshaft guy (Modus Engineering) to grind/polish out the marks. Never heard of that before, I thought they were toast if scored. Their resto is in conjunction with DSS and they confirmed in the article that 'black' main shell's are NLA from Honda.
Cheers ... AshD

Yes indeed. I showed that article to the chap who now has my bottom end and new (rare) bearings. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of his 'alchemy' and to start my rebuilding proper. That said, I've just been reading a long thread on this site that adds to the worry of my not being an expert at this stuff! Hey oh, plough on...
