Title: Back to life...
Post by: TeeGee67 on April 07, 2015, 11:54:55 AM
After 10 months and more than £50 spent...
Originally a good-looking US K4 that turned out to be a hound.  Not used for several years, big hole in the gearbox where the chain had broken, oil full of water and debris, holes in #2 and 3, gummed up carbs, etc etc.  Most work done in the garage.
Carbs and cases aqua blasted.
Originally orange, but very sun-faded.  My paint shop had a lot of trouble replicating the candy and, in the end it bubbled up under the decals.  So, I decided on something completely different - a Bentley grey based on a lovely cafe racer I saw last year.  Stripes are now painted and look superb.
I realise this will divide opinion, but at least now I do not have to answer to anyone who can spot the myriad details that are not quite right.
Either way, it attracts a lot of attention from men of a certain age...  Great ride!
Let me know what you think.

What matters most is it's another SOHC going great guns and that you like your choices. Anyone else's opinion can be ignored.

As it happens, I think it looks great.  :)

Thanks for the comments - really nice of you all.
I used the forum throughout and was completely invaluable.
I took it out for almost 100 miles at the weekend. The low point of that was finding oil all around the front sprocket again.  The high pint was then reading here that the screw adjuster on the sprocket is actually a chain oiler!
Priceless.

Love the grey why be the same as everyone else.  8)
The chain oiler can be turned down to almost nothing.

Yep, big fan of the grey. Lovely job - reminds me of the JDM spec k2 silver colour scheme ( but nicer)...
