Title: Seat progress
Post by: JustcallmeMrT on May 16, 2015, 02:28:25 PM
Finally got around to drilling the seat pan I made and covering it in foam.  Decided to go with closed cell high density foam (3cm) for the base, topped with neoprene (1.5cm).  Now to sew a pleated cover and rivet that down!
A piece of advice needed - for the shaping I just used a bit or re-positionable temporary adhesive.  What would you recommend to permanently adhere the foam to the pan?

Bmw use a series of alloy strips underneath, about 1mm wide running around the perimeter to sandwich the seat cover material between the seat pan and it, secured by rivetts. Probably the easiest / most durable and easy to re cover seat desighns I have seen, works well in conjunction with inpact adhesive.
