Hi all,
been away from bikes for 6 years, crashed my duke and walked away to new things, but the yearning came back so I've got rid of the pocket rockets (last three bikes were Kawasaki ZX6R ninja, Yamaha R6 and a Ducati 749S) and have fallen for the cb750 sohc.
The one I could afford was the 1978 F2 and I want to turn it into a café racer/scrambler so a load of bits will be finding there way to ebay or here.
I've been reading a lot of the posts here and someone said that the carbs this model came with are a bit rubbish, the guy I'm buying it of has told me its running bish and the carbs need doing so my question is do I buy a carb kit from David Silver or change the carbs, if a change is best which ones should I get?

The f2 carbs are well known for being real pigs to get right, but it must be possible to set them up right as no one would of bought them if they did not run ok from new, i think the f2 is a cracking bike with a few mods

Thanks for the reply's. Ash that is a fine link, thanks. Pete I've balanced the four pots on my ninja and the R6 (the R6 was a pig) before so I think ill get the kit and have a bash at it.
Please prepare yourselves for the onslaught of questions that this might bring.

One of the biggest problems with f2 carbs is the injector pump which squirts fuel in to offset the extremely lean slow running jets which were an attempt by honda to keep emissions low for new laws, the tiny jets at the bottom of the carb mouth easily block and the non return ball vales in the pump get gunged up and stop working as well, plus the rubber diaphragm for the pump deteriorates and stops working, the push fit slow running jets have a habit of blocking as well, sort all those problems out and it should run ok

First job is to take the carbs off and order the kit, looking forward to it.
