Does anyone here have experience of these? I'm thinking about getting one. I rode on once but it was a very long time ago, seemed quite nimble for a large bike.

Never ridden one but would imagine that they would be a lot nicer than a sohc Honda. S models look great. Did hear that the lower frame tubes can rot.

I rode one a long time ago when I had a CB750K1 and was amazed at how smooth it was, also for a big bike it was very nimble and it felt really light, it seemed to be well balanced.

I had one brand new in 1978 - one of first ones bought from Queens Park Motors in Manchester. Great bike and done about 30k on it trouble free (apart from snapped after market chain while touring Europe - cost £110 at German main dealers!) After previous Z1B, it handled great with lots of smooth power. Recommend one to anyone. I swapped it for a shaft drive GS1000G (bigger GS850) that didnt handle as well. Although not as charasmatic as Z1, was best bike I owned upto CB1100R I rebuilt in late 80s. Great memories!
I think the most sought after are early HC and EC and biggest issue is finding original exhausts. (Ive just sold one in bits a few months ago to concentrate on CB750 cafe racer project)

I used to have a GS1000E back in 83. Used it quite a bit but it was a thirsty sod, especially the way I rode it.

Seem to remember it had a pressed together roller bearing and ball race, bullet proof crank...so no expensive shells to replace. Or was that the 750?& 550 ?

According to the mechanic who has worked on my CB750 its the bike I should have bought!
