Any tips on competitively priced classic insurance providers and just wondered what typically olks are paying
I am 61 with 8 years no claims and 8 years full bike license by the way with clean licence if that helps guage any replies

Who are you with for the Triumph?
Carole Nash added my 500/4 to my Tiger 800 for £25...

I must second the Carol Nash recommendation, they have always been the most competitive for me. The only thing is to get the best deal you will need to be a member of a bike club like VMCC or similar. Ithink I pay about £70.
-
I am with MCE for the trophy and they just quoted me £75 to add the HOnda to my policy for the next 5 months. Carole Nash quoted me £160 !!!! for a new policy.
Think I will just add to my MCE policy for now and shop around again when it's up fpr renewal in September

I am with Peter James and just paid £195 to renew fully comp on 2008 Vmax, 1980 RD200, 1974 CB550 and 1987 NS400R. 52 years old 9 years NCB PO21 postcode. Includes breakdown cover and no mileage restrictions. £50 per bike - no brainer !
-
Just had my renewal from Carl Nash £141 for 2 1971 500/4's fully comp with riders thrown in free
-
I hate Carol Nash with a passion because of their exorbitant fees to make any alteration. They also made me ride a horrible Suzuki 650 for a summer when my Sportster got nerfed.
Bennett's for me, £80 odd for the CB750 fully comp, similar age and NCB to you.

Footman James

Bandit?
They gave me one of them when my Sprint 955 was flattened by White Van Man in Lewisham a few years back.
It was brand new...
... and horrible
:)

blimey, fully comprehensive :o, I go for third party, much cheaper.

I pay £158 for me, my wife and my dad to ride any combo of 1974 cb500/4, cb250 nighthawk, ca125 rebel, ntv 650 ( all M reg) and a kh125 (F reg) The fee to add the ntv for 3 months that the policy had to run when I bought it was £3.58. They didn't charge to add the rebel when I bought it as only about a month of cover. The company is Lynnbrooke. I mainly use them as they offer buy back salvage in event of a write off, and the cb500/4 sidecar and the kh are both bikes I am very attatched to sentimentally, being my first ever bike and first sidecar outfit. I have every part to fix either and would, regardless of dammage. Clean licence and no claims going back a fair way for me.
-
I also use Lynnbrooke 3 bikes £90 for the year 8), cheers Mick.

If you want to ride a modern bike (less then 15 years old) along with agreed value classic then Carol Nash is the only option as they operate a rider policy. That's what I have. I pay £520 fully comp for a Honda Blackbird and 7 classics all with agreed value and I live in London.
It's a case of shopping around for the best deal, takes hours though!

I have a Kawasaki Versys 1000 (June 2015) and CB 750/4 (1972) as well as a CB500/4 (1974) on the road with Footman James, through their VJMC classic policy. This allows any number of modern bikes and classics, provided that the classics always outnumber the modern bikes (so I understand, though I have only ever had the one modern bike at a time, so have not put this to the test).
I have always found them very good, over some 15 years of custom.
-
Footman James for me (VMCC member). Two CB750's (agreed value £7000 & £3000) one CB350F (agreed value £7000) was just £72 for the lot. Comprehensive cover.

I think I'll be trying Footman James at renewal time in October. Now that Carol Nash has been taken over by one of the majors their premiums have escalated. Changing from my 2005 1150 Triumph Sprint to a 2005 Blackbird pushed the premium up by over 200 pounds at the last renewal! Footman James couldn't offer me a quote last October so I'll try again this year.
-
I should add to the above post about Footman James. I have full no claims, am mid 50's, and live in a very good insurance post code. I think they are good although the test of good insurance is how a claim turns out, and I have not tested that yet.
-
I switched to Footman James last year as I was fed up with my previous insurers messing me about and Footman James seemed to offer a good package.
You get a discounted premium if you are a member of one of the various clubs - I joined the HOC as the insurance cost + membership cost was less than the insurance would have cost without the membership.

try Peter James,he was once the "James" in Footman James,
I use CAI insurance at present, but will be asking PJ,FJ and few others in a couple of months time

Thanks for the tips.
Apparently the Honda Blackbird is (was?) the most crashed bike and very expensive to repair hence the high premium. It's much better then my old Triumph Sprint 1050ST though in finish, performance and looks. Not that I ride it much.....I don't want to crash it ::)
-
Carole Nash for me,I'm not in any club and it's £115 for my 550 and cost just another £30 to add my 750
-
just got my renewal from CIA insurance,
now £95.48. approx £3 LESS than last year !!
contacted Carole Nash,quoted over £130
contacted Peter James,quoted £117
contacted Bikesure,quoted £187,
unless you know better,I am sticking to CIA,
another plus point, they sponcer a bike race team -))))

I've just insured my cb550F with Carole Nash for £147 I'm 29 and only 1 year with my full driving license... But it is fully comprehensive, with UK and Eu breakdown cover, pillion, puncture assistance, commuting and social, plus an agreed value of £4500.
I wanted also to insure my cafe but because it has a custom frame I could not be added to the vintage scheme and they quoted me £364!!!! ?? Do you guys tell if the bike have modifications?

Agree that Carole Nash breakdown cover is very reassuring especially when riding 40 year old bikes, but touch wood I have not had to take advantage of this ....yet!
-
dont just look at the quote, check the excess as well.

This Insurance game is and always will be a nightmare !!!
Just got a quote from Footman James JUST for the one 500 four at £150.60 with guaranteed value of £4K and 3K miles per year which is exorbitant compared to other prices I am seeing people paying. Admittedly it did include commuting at £20 and BrerakdownUK but even so.........
BTW full license 8 years and nococnvictions or clames
I think they just roll a die on the day

It can fluctuate on your post code. When I was a dispatch rider in the early 90's, I was paying £600 a year living in Milton Keynes but, working in London. Most of the riders living and working in London were paying in access of £1,450, though I was doing 100 miles a day and a hour and half just to get to and from London . I was doing on average 24,000 miles and 360 hours more on the road.
