Title: Helmets
Post by: florence on March 08, 2016, 12:04:18 PM
Well my beloved Davida open face helmet is getting a bit old now and should be replaced soon.  As much as I love the freedom of open face helmets I am aware that I am getting older and stiffer and slower and should really be looking at the added protection of a full face helmet to compensate for my delayed reactions and generally realising that, contrary to what I thought in my twenties, I am not invincible.

With this in mind, does anyone have any suggestions for and experience of good full face helmets that do not look too modern.

Thanks

Nice retro helmet, looks a bit odd to me.

I would prefer the Bitwell gringo

Bell m1 looks slightly retro, has a five star saftey rating and is excellent for wind noise and avoiding neck strain.
It needs a very round head shape though, if you have a narrow head you get a painful pressure on forehead.

I have had them all at some time or other but my last 3 helmets have been Shark...........very good kit at a fair price.

The best thing about them - by far, is the nice thick visor which doesn't mist up. The latest one I bought has a flip up smoked visor which is really good.........very rarely needed but you know that moment when you crest a hill or turn a corner and can't see anything for the bright sun.....a quick flick and you are back in business.
