Title: Feeler Gauge
Post by: Dave1234 on March 28, 2016, 09:12:28 AM
Hi, new here.

It is probably me or my eye sight but I am looking for a set of feeler gauges to set my tappets on my newly purchased 550 K3.

I can't seem to find a set that covers 0.05mm and 0.08mm

Is it me just being stupid? I shall go and have another look.

Bye
Dave

I just use std draper ones but have bent the ends of the 2 relevant ones, means they stick out from the holder, but that just means they are easier to find, or were til my dad borrowed them for the landrover and helpfully 'fixed' them for me. He thought the bendvwas from poor storage ::)

I bought some shim steel strips in the correct sizes from eBay.

Got mine from a tolls supplier on my local market, he had a set of about 30 with a wheel that I could turn and remove the 2  that I need

I simply bought a set of these and bend as required:

Works flawlessly...
(plus I have a "regular" set in the drawer...)

Thank you all for your help, I quite like the ones ST1100 has put a link to, as I do have other sets of gauges.

No doubt I be asking other questions soon.

To expand your options look at imperial feelers as well, 2 & 3 thou are within 4 ten thousandths of your desired sizes, I doubt that you can set to that accuracy.
