Hi All, My F2's engine is basically disassemble now. I've now started to strip off the old black paint off the the engine casing and was wondering what I should use the repaint the casing with. I was thinking about keeping it looking unpainted by using something like Clear VHT paint? Is this any good, or could you suggest something better? http://www.frost.co.uk/vht-very-high-temperature-satin-clear-flameproof-paint-312g-aerosol.htmlSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok I've finally got the puller off. Took the puller tool which had a tommy bar in it a cut a hex on it for a socket, and used a wrench with an extended bar to increase the leverage. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I might have to follow in you footsteps of going to a local bike shop. Tried heat with both a three leg puller and also the single bolt. Neither are looking to good now. Just need to find a single bolt puller with a nut head rather than the T bar which I have now bent. Then purchase an impact wrench. If that fails I need to look for a friendly bike shop.

Heat didn't work unfortunately so my next stop is to purchase an electric impact wrench.

Thanks for the replies. I'm just about to go out and buy a gas torch. Surprisingly I haven't needed one up to this point of the teardown.
I'm using a single bolt.

Not sure if I've missed something or I just need to continue to persist with what I'm doing?
I've screwed in the rotor pull tool as tight as I can, hit it the end of it with a hammer and repeated this for the last couple of hours but the rotor still doesn't want to come off.
This is on a cb750f2 1977 supersport if that makes any difference?

Hi, I had a quick look and my sprocket has the flat side to the outside. But this is on a none runner that I brought last year, so I am assuming the previous only sold it with it on the correct way round.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Think I'll go with the bigger bore option. Has anyone got experience of using the 252487306630 with a F2 supersport, and would I need to modify/upgrade anything else?

Hi,
I'm very slowly rebuilding my 1977 F2. I had a phone call from the machine shop advising that the new piston rings are to small and I need 64mm.
So if I have researched correctly the bike has had a 812 big bore kit fitted at some point. Does anyone know where I can buy 64mm piston rings from? I did read that the cb350 piston rings would work, is the any truth in this?
Thanks for your help

Yes it's a F2. I see what you mean about not cheap! I'll put them on the list of parts to order. As Bryan suspect the stem ends are mushroomed, so I'll cut them off this weekend to get them out.

@yozzer74 yes I've been watching hackaweek, and learning a lot. It's a shame he got the bike already torn down and cleaned up. Although I did watch the aluminium polishing episode today, which I somehow missed before, and he simply uses paint stripper. I am just trying to identify if all the engine was originally black as I appears to have been repainted at some point.

@Bryanj ok that makes sense. Can I just push the valve stem out though the guide as it doesn't appear to just want to fall out as I was expecting?
