The bike is looking great, I think it is looking forward to the ride too. 😁

I've booked good weather for the weekend. It'll be a good reason to get away from all this election nonsense.

Google t'internet to find a table of Metric Thread Pitches. Save it or print it out so you always have a reference  of Coarse, Fine or Extra fine thread pitches.
The common Metric pitch is coarse, that's usually what is sold by DIY stores if not otherwise specified.

CB350/400 / Re: Fork Oil Weight?
« on: June 07, 2024, 07:58:23 PM »
GRR...   Using the correct size box end wrench I could not loosen either of the top fork bolts!  When I go to the bike next (a 1/2 mile walk from our house) I'll take a socket set but that will require removing the handlebar to get access.  I can't imagine that the fork bolt is supposed to be anywhere near as tight as these are.  Maybe I'll try the wrench again and give it a good whack with a rubber mallet to see if I can break the bolts loose without removing the bar.  Out of curiosity I looked in the service manual to see if there was a torque setting for the fork bolt, wondering if it was supposed to be much tighter than I think but I couldn't find a setting for that bolt.

Oh well, if things went smoothly it would be boring. ;)

Slacken the pinch bolt in the top yoke first.

From memory, you can put a clean rag between the exposed gears so when you torque the nut the rag stops things turning. Another way is to put a socket extension bar through the small ends on the conrods to stop the engine turning. HTH.

I use Silkolene 15w fork oil in mine. The fork action and ride quality is fine for my 14stone lump. 👍😁

That looks like a Confederate Wildcat or something very similar.  Crazy expensive bikes from America.

I've fitted led indicators to both front and rear of my 550, the two wire rears work perfectly but I'm having a few issues with the fronts, that is they don't work at all.  Now I think this is due to their three wire set up, I should mention at this point that I also have a new Koso gauge so therefore an led dash indicator.  Am I correct in saying I need to fit diodes and reco figure the current 3 wire configuration?

Nice work on the instrument bracket. It looks very professional.  👍

Are the 3 wire front indicators made so that they can be used as daytime running lights (as in USA)?
If so you can leave the running light wire disconnected, not used. The other 2 wires would be power from flasher relay and earth. Just need to identify which is which.
LED indicators either use a resistor in each indicator wire with the original flasher relay or use an LED electronic flasher relay which doesn't need resistors.

Well done Ted. Nearly there now.  8)

Pure copper gasket, yes. Annealing it softens it so seals better when head bolted down.

Ted, don't use them on a warm engine. Could get messy! 🤣
