Mine does the same but causes no problems at all, in fact I have not even had to top it up in 3 years!

Have to agree that fitting 2 sets of points takes me about 30 mins once a year, the worst bit is the crappy cork gasket

Has anyone got one of these things and do they work? My 550 is a pig to start in cold/damp weather so what I want to find out is whether these things will help with this in removing the dampness. Also want it to be easy to get in and out as when it's dry I want to be out on it but these things are not cheap so wanted to know if they are a good investment?

My indicators seem to be a bit 'rapid' no problem really but the manual says I should have 32w bulbs and mine are 23w but I can' seem to get any locally, would a 32w bulb set make it slower? don't know enough about electrics to know if this would work.
Bike is a 1976 550.

I have a bit of wedge shaped wood that does exactly what the spring does, and cost nothing. You can't see it anyway so why worry?

it's the long continuous rubber 'O' ring seal under the head cover, weird shaped thing

I leave mine loose, very counter intuitive to have dirty air into the filter

I had an identical leak and it was  the rubber head cover seal, new one from DS and good as new now.

The guy who works on all the old classics round here swears by getting the engine hot then disconnecting the petrol feed and connecting to a bottle of brake cleaner, he says it will run like a bag of poo but the carbs will be purged. Not tried this myself as I have had no need to, but he has and reckons it works just fine.

Why do you blank out the number plate? anyone can see it when it's on the road! never understood why people do this

Got mine from a tolls supplier on my local market, he had a set of about 30 with a wheel that I could turn and remove the 2  that I need

Agree that Carole Nash breakdown cover is very reassuring especially when riding 40 year old bikes, but touch wood I have not had to take advantage of this ....yet!
